SEC decisions scrutinized as senator seeks records on crypto enforcement rollbacks
U.S. securities regulators have been under more strain than ever from critics this time around on rollbacks of cryptocurrency regulation, and a key senator asks whether they have internal information on any new stock trading or SEC policy decisions.

Senator Richard Blumenthal, the top Democrat on the Senate investigations subcommittee, has written to SEC Chairman Paul Atkins to share records and exchanges related to the government’s high-profile digital asset cases, including the dismissal of its claims against Tron founder Justin Sun.

Blumenthal’s request comes weeks after the SEC’s interim head of enforcement, Judge Margaret Ryan, departed. Ryan commenced the job near the end of 2025 and left in March of this year.

According to reports, Ryan was seeking to delve more deeply into pursuing fraud charges involving those in President Donald Trump’s inner circle. However, people familiar with the matter say he faced a setback because Atkins and other top Republicans on the commission opposed it.

“Ms. Ryan’s abrupt departure from the agency raises questions in light of her short tenure and reports that senior leadership intervened to prohibit the Division of Enforcement from pursuing cases against certain cryptocurrency companies,” Blumenthal said in the letter.

According to reports, tensions have risen over Sun’s case. During the Biden administration, the SEC charged Sun and his three affiliated companies with conducting unregistered sales of $TRX and BTT tokens. Charges that stood against him also included manipulating $TRX prices through wash trading and paying celebrities, including actress Lindsay Lohan and influencer Jake Paul, to promote the tokens without proper disclosure.

The post, which has since racked up more than 1.67 million views on X, features an artificial intelligence (AI)-designed woman at a luxury tropical resort claiming she retired early on monthly dividends from STRC, Strategy Inc.’s Series A Perpetual “Stretch” Preferred Stock.

The stock is listed on Nasdaq with an ~11.5% annualized dividend paid monthly, proceeds directed toward buying more bitcoin. The video carries heavy disclaimers: not FDIC-insured, not a bank deposit, subject to bitcoin volatility risk, not suitable for everyone. Saylor paired it with a five-word caption:

“You weren’t meant to live an uncomfortable life.”

What followed was anything but a retirement party. A considerable number of observers took aim at the advertisement with pointed criticism. Jason Calacanis, a prominent tech entrepreneur, angel investor, and podcaster, wrote:

“Sell your house! Invest in bitcoin through STRC which is somehow related to MSTR which has exposure to $BTC which they’ve saddled with debt or some type. Do not just buy $BTC on Robinhood!!! Buy it through some convoluted corporate structure and trust it will be ok!”

The community landed on a working label fast: “AI slop.” Critics called it “gigaslop,” “the sloppiest slop that’s ever slopped,” and “$5 Fiverr gig energy.” The production quality, cheesy resort visuals, a generic script, and obvious AI rendering did the ad no favors. Former Pharma bro Martin Shkreli, not known for measured responses, wrote “wtf is this sh*t” and followed up with “arrest this guy.”

Over 40% of Altcoins Near All-Time Lows, Worse Than Last Bear Market


More than 40% of altcoins are trading at or near their all-time lows as of March 30, 2026, according to data shared by analyst Darkfost.

The scale of the drawdown is now bigger than what was seen during the last bear market, raising new concerns about liquidity and demand across the sector.

Altcoins Are Struggling

In a post on X, Darkfost noted that pressure on altcoins has increased to much heavier levels than earlier in the current cycle, with over 40% of them going close to record lows compared to about 38% at the height of the last bear market.

Per the analyst, a combination of macroeconomic stress and structural issues within the crypto markets caused the weakness. Ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the resulting instability in the traditional market have also put more pressure on risk assets, including cryptocurrencies.

At the same time, Darkfost blamed the growing number of tokens in the market, which they estimated at more than 47 million, including around 22 million on Solana, over 18 million on Base, and about 4 million on the BNB Smart Chain. According to them, that increase led to a dilution of liquidity, as it had to be spread across a wider set of assets, leaving smaller tokens with little, if any, trading activity and weaker price support.

Darkfost’s assessment mirrors that of fellow analyst Wise Crypto, who had earlier pointed out that the total market cap for altcoins had dropped below $1 trillion, with the likes of Ethereum ($ETH) slipping below $2,000 for a time, Solana dropping about 12% over a two-day period, and several “high-beta” tokens recording even steeper losses.

There are three main catalysts that have been driving Bittensor’s price this month.

First, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently publicly praised Bittensor and highlighted its decentralized training of the Covenant 72B AI model, a complex, large language model, as a remarkable technical achievement. The high-profile endorsement gave the project a massive boost in credibility that extended beyond the crypto space while increasing institutional appetite for the token at the same time.

Second, the successful release of the 72 billion parameter model (Covenant 72B) on the Templar subnet helped showcase the ability of the decentralized network to handle state-of-the-art AI workloads. Reports indicate that the model outperformed major competitors like Meta’s Llama 2 (70B) in some benchmarks while being trained over 70 decentralized nodes.

Third, the cumulative valuation of Bittensor’s subnet tokens reached near the $1.5 billion milestone in late March. Since users must use $TAO to participate in or stake these subnets, it created a natural feedback loop of demand for the $TAO token.

Bittensor price analysis

On the daily chart, Bittensor price has been trading within an ascending parallel channel pattern since late February. As long as an asset trades within such a pattern, they tend to maintain a steady bullish trajectory as the price bounces between the support and resistance boundaries of the channel.
