CME is set to let traders bet on bitcoin volatility, not just pric



To most people, trading in cryptocurrencies like bitcoin , boils down to a simple question: Will prices go up or down?

But there’s another dimension to trading, which is volatility, a measure of how volatile prices could be regardless of direction. It’s already a hugely popular trade in stock markets, and now CME wants to bring it to bitcoin.

The world's leading derivatives marketplace announced this week its plan to debut Bitcoin volatility futures on June 1, pending regulatory approval.

Unlike traditional bitcoin futures, the new contracts will not track the cryptocurrency’s price directly. Instead, they will refer to the CME CF Bitcoin Volatility Index (BVX), which represents the market's expectations for bitcoin volatility over the next 4 weeks.

This soft data suggests declining employment momentum, in contrast to the strong US NFP numbers. This could increase the likelihood of the BoC cutting rates, even with high wages. Expect CAD/USD to be volatile in the short term. Technical AnalysisCAD/JPY is currently trading below the 34- and 55-EMA, 200 EMA, and 365 EMA on the 4-hour chart. The immediate resistance is at 115; a breach above that level could shift targets to 115.75/116.15/117/118/120. On the lower side, near-term support is at 114, and a break below this support could lead to declines

Phong Le, CEO of Strategy, one of the world’s largest institutional Bitcoin holders, announced a significant change in the company’s Bitcoin management strategy. Speaking in an exclusive interview with CNBC, Le stated that they have shifted from a “never sell” approach to an active management model that maximizes shareholder value.

Phong Le stated that the company can now use its Bitcoin assets for liquidity and dividend payments when needed, instead of simply holding them. CEO Le said, “I believe in mathematics rather than ideology. If selling Bitcoin becomes a more profitable option than issuing new shares to pay dividends to our shareholders, we will do it.”

Warmer chatbots were 40% more likely to agree with users' false beliefs, especially when users expressed vulnerability or emotional distress. OpenAl has already rolled back some warmth-related changes following public concern, but commercial pressure to build engaging Al remains strong. Oxford researchers found Al chatbots trained for warmth make significantly more factual errors and validate false beliefs more often, according to a study published in Nature by the Oxford Internet Institute. The research analyzed more than 400,000 responses from five Al models, including Llama, Mistral, Qwen, and GPT-40, each retrained to sound friendlier using methods similar to those deployed by major platforms.
Chatbots trained to sound warmer made between 10% and 30% more mistakes on topics including medical advice and conspiracy corrections. They were also about 40% more likely to agree with users' false beliefs, particularly when users expressed vulnerability. "When we train Al chatbots to prioritise warmth, they might make mistakes they otherwise wouldn't," lead author Lujain Ibrahim said in a statement. "Making a chatbot sound friendlier might seem like a cosmetic change, but getting warmth and accuracy right will take deliberate effort."
