Bitcoin (BTC) just posted its strongest three-day rally since 2023, and two prominent investors now say the move reflects capital finally leaving an overheated artificial intelligence (AI) trade.

Big Names Now Confirm the Shift

Analysts have flagged this possible shift for months without confirming it was happening. Research firm K33 warned in June that Bitcoin was losing ground as institutions chased AI returns instead.

Investor Steve Eisman went further in July, saying he had sold his Google position to cut AI exposure, warning the entire market had become one crowded trade. Then, in late July, veteran macro investor Jordi Visser argued that AI’s easy-money phase was ending and that Bitcoin stood to benefit next.

Bill Miller IV, chairman and chief investment officer at Miller Value Partners, is now making the same case with fresh conviction. His comments this week, paired with Visser’s, mark two of the clearest signals yet from named, established investors that the rotation out of AI and into Bitcoin is actively underway, not just theorized.

He pointed to two forces behind the reversal. Growing doubt about AI capital expenditure returns is pushing “longdated thinkers” back toward crypto, he said.

At the same time, governments have intervened twice in quick succession. Japan and the US supported the yen in late July, and the US Treasury Department said last week it would double its long-dated bond buybacks, a move that eased pressure on yields and coincided with one of the largest short-liquidation waves crypto markets have seen.

Rather, like a true coursing predator, the CTFC seeks to advance its own interests through the back door of an amicus brief instead of facing its own case against Mr. Van Dyke head on. This Court should not countenance the CFTC’s litigation gambits.”

US authorities charged Van Dyke with fraud in April over allegations he traded event contracts on Polymarket related to the removal of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in January, an operation for which he was privy to nonpublic information. Bitcoin Policy UK has slammed British banks for applying blanket restrictions to lawful bitcoin activity.

The organization said in an announcement Friday that it had submitted evidence to the Crypto and Digital Assets APPG’s parliamentary inquiry into banking access, revealing that no improvements had been made over the past three years in how banks treat bitcoin activity.

The issue: UK policy treats “crypto” as one thing, so bitcoin is caught by rules written for unbacked tokens and issuer-dependent stablecoins.

The British government has said since 2023 that banks should assess case by case rather than restrict by sector. The group says practice has not followed, and that the gap is widening as the UK moves toward full implementation of its cryptoasset regime in 2027.

Almost three years after we first raised blanket banking restrictions with the City Minister, our evidence to the Crypto and Digital Assets APPG inquiry shows the problem hasn’t improved. Roughly 40% of bank-to-exchange transfers in the UK are currently blocked or delayed.
