Inside the EU’s new country-level crypto ban — Here’s why HTX and 13 platforms were targeted

The European Union (EU) has widened its sanctions targeting Russia by banning Justin Sun-owned HTX and 13 other crypto platforms.

The platforms span the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Panama, Georgia, the Marshall Islands, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus. They include BitPapa, A7 networks and more.According to the EU Council, these platforms have acted as conduits for blocked Russian entities to move funds and bypass existing sanctions. The transaction ban prohibits EU persons and firms from doing business with these crypto platforms. 

In particular, Justin Sun-owned HTX’s appearance on the sanctioned list is very noteworthy. The exchange was banned by the U.K in May.

Cardano Founder Warns Bitcoin Could Lose Top Spot Without Major UpgradesCardano founder Charles Hoskinson has warned that Bitcoin could eventually lose its position as the world's largest cryptocurrency if it fails to adapt to quantum computing.

Speaking in an interview on The Starting Block, Hoskinson claimed that Bitcoin's biggest weakness is its limited ability to implement major protocol upgrades.

He argued that Bitcoin's governance model makes significant network changes difficult, a challenge that could become critical as quantum computing advances and threatens today's cryptographic security

Where Could the SHIB Price Go Next?If people keep buying and the burns stay over 200 million SHIB a day, the first real stop is $0.00000600. That number tends to pull in short-term traders looking for a quick move.

Push past that cleanly, and you could be looking at $0.00000640 to $0.00000660, especially if big wallets keep stacking and more DeFi projects start using SHIB.

But here's the other side. After a 33% jump like that, things can cool off fast. The first floor to keep an eye on is $0.00000520. Below that, the old breakout zone around $0.00000480 to $0.00000490 is the next safety net.

As long as the Shiba Inu price stays above those levels, the bigger uptrend stays intact, even if we get a pullback that shakes out some weak hands.

However, the SHIB price is climbing because the burns have picked up speed. Big holders started buying again. Trading volume went through the roof. And more DeFi projects are actually using SHIB now, which brings in more buyers.

If the bulls can hold that breakout level, this run could keep going over the next few days.

But fair warning, those overbought numbers mean we are probably in for some wild swings either way

The Bitcoin Treasury Shakeout Has Begun: Which Companies Are Selling and Who’s Next?
For much of the past two years, publicly listed companies competed to raise capital to buy $BTC and presented themselves as leveraged alternatives to holding the asset directly.

The model worked quite promisingly for a while, and their shares traded comfortably above the value of the $BTC on their balance sheets. Some experienced massive growth within months. However, Scorpions’ immortal song has come to life – there’s a wind of change.

Who Is Selling?

Although we have talked extensively about Strategy’s change of attitude over the past several months, the company remains the largest corporate holder and the pioneer of the entire move, so we can’t skip it. It began accumulating $BTC roughly six years ago. It increased the rate and size of its purchases after the US presidential elections in late 2024. The market became accustomed to hearing new multi-million- (and sometimes billion-) dollar accumulations every Monday.

However, it all changed with a tiny sale in Q2 and a significantly larger one in early July of over 3,500 units. The company has made no new acquisitions for weeks now, while focusing on rebuilding its USD reserve. On the plus side, it didn’t sell in the past couple of weeks either. Nevertheless, analysts are adamant that the first sale changed everything, even though it’s apparent (for now) that Strategy has not abandoned Bitcoin.

Satsuma Technologies, though, did. The UK-listed $BTC treasury company proposed selling all of its remaining $BTC, returning most of the proceeds to shareholders, delisting from the London Stock Exchange, and effectively dismantling the treasury vehicle. The firm had already sold 579 $BTC in December last year to raise approximately $50 million to address convertible loan obligations. Now, shareholders have approved plans to dispose of the remaining 668 $BTC.

In 2026, Saylor’s Strategy Still Holds a Significant Lead

Strategy, the company Michael Saylor built into the world’s largest corporate bitcoin holder, still sits alone at the top with 843,775 $BTC on its balance sheet. That is roughly $58 billion at current prices, spread across a business that now issues debt and equity almost entirely to fund more bitcoin purchases.

But the size of a company’s bitcoin stack and the direction of its stock price have split into two very different stories in 2026. Miners are rallying. Treasury companies are getting punished.
