Bitcoin’s risk of a corrective pause is rising
Bitcoin price trades at $77,150, extending its advance well above key Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs) and leaving the near-term bias bullish but stretched after a 23.58% surge last week. The 50-day EMA at $66,773, the 100-day EMA at $67,408 and the 200-day EMA at $71,834 now sit well below spot, suggesting a strongly supported uptrend, while the horizontal level at $80,000 acts as the next topside support reference above the market in this accelerated phase.Momentum is overheated, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) holding in overbought territory at 78 and the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) deeply positive, hinting that while buyers remain in control, the risk of a corrective pause is rising.

On the downside, any pullback is likely to first eye the 200-day EMA near $71,834, with additional EMA cushions at $67,408 and $66,774. 

On the topside, a sustained push toward the $80,000 area would keep the uptrend intact despite the overbought momentum backdrop.

This week, the crypto market is gearing up for an information-rich week, as a number of key U.S. economic indicators are expected to shape Fed policy expectations. Bitcoin and other risk assets may see more volatile movement as investors evaluate inflation, economic growth and labor market conditions.

Key Economic Events This Week
The main attention will be on the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index for July, which is released on Wednesday. The preferred inflation measure of the Federal Reserve is PCE. The headline measure is projected to be 0.1% higher month-on-month following a 0.1% decline in June.

Meanwhile, the annual rate is projected to be 3.6% compared with 3.7%. The figures for the Core PCE (excluding the food and energy prices) are projected to rise by 0.2% from the prior month. The annual reading is forecast to be 3.3%.

The inflation data will be carefully considered before the Fed’s September meeting. June PCE inflation was at 3.7% and core PCE was 3.3%. Both are still above the central bank’s 2% inflation target. A higher than desired reading in July may further support the expectations that interest rates will stay higher. A more benign print might bolster anticipation for easier policy.

Another big indicator will be GDP growth. The latest projections call for 1.5 per cent annualised expansion in the second quarter. This is up from 2.1% growth in the first quarter. A new GDP report will also be released Wednesday.

Labor will stay in the spotlight on Thursday as weekly new claims for unemployment benefits are released. Initial claims for the week ending Aug. 22 are forecast to remain steady at 206,000, the same amount as last week. The figure will provide a further pointer as to the state of employment conditions.

South Korea-based cryptocurrency exchange Upbit has announced it will add the Lighter ($LIT) token to its Korean won (KRW) trading market. According to the announcement, made on August 24, 2026, trading for $LIT is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM on the same day. The supported network for the token is Ethereum.

Upbit emphasized that users should carefully check network information before making $LIT deposits and withdrawals. The exchange will only support $LIT transfers made via the Ethereum network. It was stated that assets sent using different networks may not be reflected in the account and refund processes may take a long time.

Certain restrictions will also be applied at the start of trading for $LIT. Accordingly, buy orders will be limited for approximately five minutes after trading begins. During the same period, sell orders placed at 10% or less of the previous day’s closing price will also not be allowed. Furthermore, the use of order types other than limit orders, such as market orders, and conditional orders will be restricted for the first approximately two hours.

According to Upbit data, $LIT’s previous day closing price on the $BTC market was 0.00004500 $BTC. This value corresponds to approximately 4,803 Korean won.

Lighter operates as a protocol offering a decentralized perpetual futures market. Assets are held on the L1 platform in its order book-based infrastructure, while transactions are executed in the L2 environment. $LIT is used within the protocol for staking and liquidity participation.

Token holders can obtain the participation limit for the Lighter Liquidity Pool (LLP) by staking a certain amount of $LIT. Additionally, they can benefit from exemptions from transfer and withdrawal fees, as well as transaction fee advantages, at certain staking levels.

Tokenized funds have stopped being a novelty. Tokenized US Treasury funds alone now hold roughly $16 billion in distributed value and the list of issuers includes most of the largest names in traditional asset management. Issuance is a solved problem. The harder question is what happens to one of these assets after it exists onchain, because most of them currently do very little.

The typical tokenized fund is held, occasionally transferred, and eventually redeemed. That is a real improvement in distribution and settlement, but it leaves the asset economically idle. The larger opportunity lies in financial utility: using a traditional asset inside an onchain system as collateral, as margin, or as a component of a structured position. The two outcomes look almost identical on a balance sheet, and they behave very differently in practice.

From Representation to Utility
Consider an investor holding a tokenized fund that owns $100 million of bonds. If that investor needs cash, the conventional path is to redeem the fund, wait for the underlying assets to settle, receive the proceeds, and then deploy that capital somewhere else. The plumbing is faster than it would be offchain, but the economics are unchanged. The investor gave up the position in order to access liquidity.

The alternative is to deposit the same token into a lending market as collateral and borrow stablecoins against it. The credit exposure and its yield stay with the investor, the loan provides the cash, and nothing is sold. The function of the asset changes rather than the asset itself, and that shift is where tokenization begins to look like financial infrastructure rather than a faster distribution channel.
