Loud explosions reported across Dubai were the result of air-defense interceptions, not direct strikes on targets. as reported by Anadolu Agency, the sounds were linked to interception operations carried out over the city.

As reported by Dawn, the interceptions targeted ballistic missiles and drones across parts of the UAE, including Dubai. The situation remained under active supervision.

The Fed is readying to punish banks for holding Bitcoin as US crypto tensions boil over

Basel’s thresholds and punitive risk weights can make direct Bitcoin exposure prohibitively expensive even when it’s legally permitted.

The next big Bitcoin policy fight may have nothing to do with ETFs or government legislation, but with a dry Federal Reserve capital proposal that most investors will never read.

The landscape is simple: will big banks continue to treat Bitcoin as a balance sheet hazard, or will US capital rules begin to leave room for more serious bank intermediation around it?

With the Fed expected to vote next week on a revised Basel proposal and then open a 90-day comment window, this little-noticed rulemaking could become one of the most important banking decisions for Bitcoin in years.

Reuters reported on Mar. 12 that the Fed plans to vote next week on a revised Basel proposal for large banks and then open a 90-day public comment period.

Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman said the same day that proposals covering Basel III and the G-SIB surcharge would be published in the coming week.

Most crypto investors do not care about prudential terminology, but they do care about whether their bank will eventually offer better Bitcoin services, whether crypto firms can more easily secure bank relationships, and whether Wall Street integration expands beyond ETFs.

The current Basel framework is restrictive enough to make those questions materially harder for banks to answer.

This all comes amid increasing tension between the US crypto industry and banks as they continue to clash over the stalled Clarity Act. The President chose a side this month by directly blaming banks for the delay.

one-month high of $73,800, continuing to outperform since start of Iran war

Bitcoin $BTC$71,859.13 is adding to overnight gains in early U.S. trading on Friday, continuing to show strong relative price action after many months of underperformance to assets like stocks and precious metals.

Trading at $73,800, bitcoin is higher by nearly 5% over the past 24 hours, with most of those gains coming after U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Thursday evening said the Trump administration is taking concrete steps to try and cap surging oil prices.

Bitcoin is now higher by about 11% since the Iran war broke out, outperforming broad U.S. stock indices and gold, both of which have lost ground since the bombs began dropping about two weeks ago.

WTI oil on Friday is trading at $94.50 per barrel, down from a high of nearly $98 on Thursday. U.S. stocks are posting gains of about 0.5%.

Oil raises stagflationary risk

The recent spike in oil prices is putting direct pressure on household budgets and, if sustained, could weaken consumer spending and slow economic growth, according to Olu Sonola, head of US economics at Fitch Ratings.

"Yes, the broader economy is still expected to grow at trend, but that forecast increasingly looks fragile as downside risks accumulate.... The Fed can shrug off pockets of weakening growth, but resurgent inflation severely limits its room to maneuver, leaving policy potentially stranded for months," he wrote in a note.

🔎 Why Did Bitdeer Sell All Its Bitcoin?
Mining companies typically sell a portion of their mined Bitcoin to cover electricity, equipment, and operational costs, while keeping some BTC in treasury to benefit from potential price appreciation.
However, fully liquidating reserves is unusual. Bitdeer clarified that the move was made to increase liquidity, not to exit the Bitcoin mining business. The company said it is currently evaluating several potential acquisitions of powered land and wants to maintain financial flexibility.

Bitdeer also announced plans to raise $300 million through convertible senior notes, with an option to expand the offering by an additional $45 million. The funds will be used for:
