On Monday, Michael Saylor's Strategy announced one of the largest Bitcoin (BTC) purchases this year. Saylor said the company acquired 13,927 BTC for approximately $1 billion, at a price of $71,902 per BTC. The purchase was made entirely with proceeds from the sale of STRC, a non-dilutive common stock. STRC is Strategy's Series A variable-rate perpetual preferred stock, which currently pays a variable monthly dividend of 11.5%. Strategy currently owns 780,897 BTC, acquired for $59.02 billion. The company, whose shares trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker MSTR, is the world's largest corporate holder of Bitcoin and the first public company to adopt BTC as its sole treasury reserve asset. At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $71,461. The world's number one cryptocurrency by market cap has risen 0.75% in the past 24 hours and more than 2.5% over the past seven days. In an interview with Bloomberg earlier this year, Saylor predicted that Bitcoin wouldn't have to endure future boom-bust cycles. "Winter isn't coming back. We're past that. Bitcoin isn't going to go to zero; it's going to go to $1 million." The Strategy founder attributed his optimism to the Trump administration's support for cryptocurrencies and the opportunities it has opened up for them.

A major regulatory breakthrough may be on the horizon in the U.S. crypto policy debate, as lawmakers work to settle one of the most divisive issues in digital assets: whether stablecoin holders should be allowed to earn yield.
According to recent reports, Senator Thom Tillis and Senator Angela Alsobrooks are preparing a draft amendment to the Clarity Act that could be released this week. The goal is to bridge the growing divide between traditional banks and crypto firms over stablecoin interest payments.
At the center of the debate is a key question: Should crypto platforms be allowed to offer rewards or yield on stablecoin balances?
Banks argue that allowing such incentives could drain deposits from the traditional financial system and create structural risks.
Crypto companies, including major exchanges like Coinbase, argue that restricting yield would limit innovation and reduce consumer choice.
While the earlier GENIUS Act already prohibited stablecoin issuers from directly paying interest, it left a loophole allowing third-party platforms to potentially offer rewards—fueling the current policy clash.
Despite months of negotiations and White House-led discussions, no final agreement has been reached. However, lawmakers now say the draft language is “coming together well,” with further revisions still possible as industry feedback continues.
There is even discussion of a proposed “crypto-palooza” event on Capitol Hill, where banking and crypto leaders could sit down together to find common ground.
The Clarity Act still faces a long legislative path, but this latest development signals that Washington may finally be moving toward a clearer regulatory framework for stablecoins and digital asset yield products.
