The IMF notes that under certain conditions, a $3.5 billion increase in stablecoin issuance could compress short-term Treasury yields by roughly two basis points. That may seem small, but in one of the world’s deepest markets, such sensitivity signals that stablecoins are becoming a non-trivial participant.

Forecasts vary, but several analysts project the stablecoin sector could grow to between $2 trillion and $3.7 trillion by 2030, depending on regulatory clarity and institutional adoption. At the upper end, stablecoins would hold T-bills enough to influence liquidity conditions at the short end of the curve.

Yet stablecoin issuers operate without the liquidity backstops available to money-market funds. Their business model is a rigid pass-through: yield on reserves accrues to the issuer

Washington is getting ready to potentially make life easier for the biggest US banks.

That can sound pretty abstract if you don't strip it down to the mechanics. Regulators decide how much capital banks must keep to absorb losses and how much liquidity they need if funding starts to disappear.

More capital and more liquidity make banks sturdier, though they also limit how much money banks can lend, trade, or return to shareholders. Less of both gives banks more room to move while leaving a thinner cushion when conditions turn.

That tradeoff is now back at the center of US bank policy. On March 12, Federal Reserve Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman said regulators are preparing a softer rewrite of the long-disputed Basel III endgame rules, the post-2008 capital package Wall Street has spent years trying to weaken.

The new version could leave large-bank capital requirements roughly flat or slightly lower than current levels once related changes are included, and could free up more than $175 billion in excess capital across the industry. Surcharges for the largest global banks may also fall by about 10%.

That is a sharp turn from where the debate stood less than three years ago.

BlackRock just launched a staked Ethereum ETF that pays holders while they wait signaling bullish price prediction.

BlackRock just figured out the one reason serious ETH holders would not touch their spot ETF.

When US regulators approved spot Ethereum ETFs in 2024, they excluded staking entirely from the products.

That meant anyone who moved their ETH into an ETF had to forgo their staking income to do so. For many holders, that was a dealbreaker, and they stayed out.

BlackRock just closed that gap. The firm launched the iShares Staked Ethereum Trust (ticker: ETHB) on Nasdaq this week, making it the third crypto ETF in its lineup, following IBIT for Bitcoin and ETHA for spot Ethereum.

First day trading volume came in above $15 million, which Bloomberg Intelligence analyst James Seyffart called a very solid Day One for an ETF launch.

Here is how ETHB actually works. The fund holds spot ETH and stakes between 70% and 95% of those holdings through Coinbase Prime.

For the first year, BlackRock is offering a promotional fee of 0.12% on the first $2.5 billion in assets, undercutting most competitors on day one.

The price was buoyed by net inflows into the US exchange-traded funds over the week: American investors threw over $763 million of fresh cash at the investment vehicles, according to Farside Investors data, the highest amount since January.

Bitcoin was recently trading hands for $70,768, according to CoinGecko, a drop of 4% over the past day.

Over the past week, the leading cryptocurrency has shot up by 4% and is up by 12% since touching a low of $63,177 the day the US and Israel attacked Iran.
Experts told DL News that the price of Bitcoin and other major coins would suffer because of the Iran war.

But the leading cryptocurrency is experiencing a surge and less of a correlation with other risk-on assets — at least for now.

US equities closed lower Friday, with the S&P 500 hitting a new low this year as the price of oil surged.

Bitcoin in recent months has been correlated with the stock market but this week appeared to break free in “a rare decoupling from traditional risk assets,” according to Diana Pires, Chief Business Officer at sFOX.
