Anthony Pompliano, Chairman and CEO of ProCap Financial, assessed the key factors behind the recent rally observed in the cryptocurrency market. Pompliano, a leading figure in the crypto asset ecosystem, argued that macroeconomic factors, monetary policies, and changes in global cash flow are behind the upward trend.

According to Pompliano, Bitcoin is the financial asset most sensitive to the ongoing global money printing and currency devaluation. Central banks, particularly in the United States, are reportedly taking monetary expansion steps to address debt burdens and budget deficits, leading investors towards assets with limited supply. This situation makes Bitcoin, with its fixed supply of 21 million, stand out as a digital store of value.

It is stated that the increase in market liquidity, as well as the interest of institutional investors, has accelerated the rise. The entry of traditional financial institutions into the market through spot Bitcoin ETFs and direct treasury strategies increases demand pressure on the limited supply, creating an upward mechanism in price formation.

Pompliano said, “As long as they keep printing money, Bitcoin will continue to rise in the long term,” and added:

“There’s a saying, ‘Since the dollar has no bottom, Bitcoin has no top either.’ I think people have been reminded of that again.”

The widely watched Crypto Fear & Greed Index reached 74 on Tuesday, up from 27 on Aug. 12, before easing to 65 on Wednesday. It spent every day from late July through Aug. 19 in fear territory, dipping to 25 on Aug. 6, which the index classifies as “extreme fear.”The gauge scores market mood from zero to 100 by blending bitcoin's volatility and trading momentum — which carry most of the weight — with social media activity, bitcoin's share of total crypto value and Google search interest. Anything above 50 counts as greed.

As such, it measures what traders are doing now rather than forecasting what happens next.

Data shows the index last sat this high on Oct. 5, 2025, five days before the crash that forced roughly $19 billion of leveraged positions to close in a single session, still the largest such event on record.

The shift in sentiment has come with gains across the market. Bitcoin climbed from below $68,000 last week to nearly $80,000, while some major tokens added as much as 70% as traders turned back toward the so-called debasement trade after months in which speculative attention had been dominated by AI, memory chips and semiconductor stocks.

Within a week, the asset rose from $75 (traded on August 16) to $100 (recorded on August 23), a 26.4% gain. The recovery attracted trader interest, with many convinced the asset has fully reversed its slump.

BMNR traded at $24.68 at the time of writing, gaining 2.24% during the session. It rose from below $19 over the last few days and briefly touched $24.82, returning it to levels last seen around its April and May peaks.

Earlier in the current session, treasury data placed its asset value at $23.85 per share while BMNR traded at $23.71, leaving it at 0.99 times the value of its holdings.

The rise to $24.68 seems to have erased that discount. This means investors were paying roughly the value of BitMine’s holding rather than a large premium for its treasury strategy.

After such a rapid advance, BMNR could pause or give back part of the move. It also remains closely tied to Ethereum, with a price drop in ETH reducing the treasury’s value, and this could quickly weigh on BMNR.

Bitcoin payments fade at El Salvador’s Bitcoin BeachBitcoin Core contributor Jon Atack reported on Aug. 23 that a restaurant in El Zonte, El Salvador, received its first Bitcoin payment of the month when he paid for lunch.

Atack, who has lived in El Salvador since 2022, said restaurant staff told him Bitcoin payments were once common but had become “practically non-existent.” El Zonte is widely known as Bitcoin Beach, the community that helped inspire El Salvador’s national Bitcoin policy.

Bitcoin Beach report remains one merchant’s experience
According to Atack’s account, restaurant staff said almost every customer now paid by card. A worker reportedly declined a tip in satoshis because she had forgotten how to use her Bitcoin application.

“It was the first Bitcoin payment there all month,” Atack reported. He described the encounter as anecdotal, meaning it cannot establish payment activity across El Zonte or El Salvador.

Another visitor responding to the discussion said she had recently paid with Bitcoin in the area. She also observed signs advertising Bitcoin acceptance, showing that payment infrastructure remains available at some businesses.

The accounts are not necessarily contradictory. Merchant activity can vary by location, customer base and season. No comprehensive August transaction data for El Zonte was publicly available to measure the reported decline.

Solana transactions hit record 4.2B as SOL rallies 40%

Transaction activity on the Solana blockchain reached a record high in July, preceding a sharp rally that pushed $SOL above $100 for the first time since February amid a broader crypto market recovery.

Onchain data presented by The Kobeissi Letter showed that Solana processed a record 4.2 billion transactions in July, up 13.5% from the previous month. Transaction counts have risen by roughly 2 billion since December, representing a 91% increase.

The growth has coincided with a broader expansion in tokenized real-world assets. The Kobeissi Letter cited RWA.xyz data showing that the value of distributed RWAs across tracked blockchain networks has climbed above $38 billion.
