Addressing the nation for the first time since assuming office last month, Kast emphasized that the reforms are a practical response to pressing economic challenges rather than a politically driven agenda.The reform package is built around five core objectives: enhancing tax competitiveness, reinforcing formal employment, cutting through regulatory red tape, strengthening legal certainty for investors, and maintaining disciplined public spending. At the heart of the proposal is a gradual reduction in the corporate tax rate from 27% to 23% over four years — a move Kast's administration believes will position Chile as a more attractive destination for business and investment.Among the standout measures is a new tax credit linked to wage payments, designed to incentivize smaller businesses to bring workers into the formal economy. Kast stated the initiative would inject approximately $1.4 billion annually into the productive sector, benefiting around 235,000 small and medium-sized enterprises and protecting over four million workers. Additional reforms include faster processing of environmental permits for major projects like mining operations, a temporary VAT exemption on new home sales, roughly $450 million earmarked for regions affected by recent wildfires, and a property tax exemption for homeowners aged 65 and older on their primary residences.Kast has set an ambitious target of lifting Chile's annual economic growth from 2.5% to around 4%, though many analysts remain doubtful about the feasibility of that goal. A crypto analyst has highlighted a long-term technical structure in XRP that may be approaching a critical turning point after nearly nine years of consolidation.
According to analyst Ali Martinez, XRP appears to be trading within a long-standing ascending triangle pattern on the monthly chart — a structure that has been forming since 2017.
An ascending triangle is typically defined by a flat resistance level and a rising support trendline. Price tends to oscillate between these two boundaries until a decisive breakout occurs, often leading to a strong directional move.
Martinez noted that XRP has repeatedly been rejected from the upper resistance zone over the years, while continuing to find support along its rising trendline. Most recently, in August 2025, XRP once again failed to break above resistance and has since been gradually moving lower within the pattern.
Based on this structure, the analyst suggests that XRP could revisit the key support region around $0.75–$0.80, which may represent a significant long-term accumulation zone if the pattern continues to hold.
As the triangle approaches its apex, historical TA theory suggests that volatility increases and a breakout becomes more likely. Ascending triangles are generally considered bullish continuation patterns, meaning an upside breakout could be the higher-probability outcome.
“If a 9-year consolidation finally breaks, the move is usually historic,” the analyst noted, adding that XRP’s next major cycle could be substantial if the pattern resolves to the upside.

The cheapest bitcoin ETF yet: Morgan Stanley uses 0.14% fee to draw $100 million in first wee

Morgan Stanley’s (MS) spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), trading under the ticker MSBT, has drawn more than $100 million in inflows within its first week on the market, signaling strong early demand for the bank’s latest push into digital assets.

The fund, which began trading on April 8, tracks the CoinDesk Bitcoin Benchmark 4 PM New York Settlement Rate and charges a 0.14% expense ratio. That makes it the cheapest product in the category, giving it a pricing edge as competition among issuers intensifies.

Still, cost is only part of the story. MSBT enters the market with a built-in distribution advantage through Morgan Stanley’s vast wealth management business, which oversees trillions of dollars in client assets. The firm’s network of financial advisors provides a direct channel to investors who may prefer gaining exposure to bitcoin through managed portfolios rather than trading on crypto-native platforms.

That reach could prove critical as the spot bitcoin ETF market matures. While MSBT’s early inflows are notable, the fund remains far smaller than BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which has amassed more than $53 billion in assets since launching in January 2024 and dominates the category.

Morgan Stanley’s head of digital assets, Amy Oldenburg, said MSBT has already become the firm’s most successful ETF launch in an interview with Bloomberg.

Some analysts expect Morgan Stanley’s product to pull assets from existing funds like IBIT, particularly among clients already within its advisory ecosystem. At the same time, the firm’s entry may help expand the overall market by bringing in new investors.

They also noted that Street estimates are likely to trend lower, but this should not come as a surprise to investors. With Coinbase expected to report Q1 2026 earnings on May 7, sentiment impact from results may be limited.
Beyond short-term pressure, the long-term narrative is shifting toward Coinbase’s expanding “everything exchange” strategy. The platform is steadily broadening its ecosystem with derivatives, staking services, equities trading, and prediction markets—enhancing its competitive positioning beyond spot trading.
A key driver of optimism is the continued growth of USDC, Coinbase’s closely linked stablecoin through Circle. USDC has been steadily gaining market share from USDT, even as new entrants like PayPal and Trump-linked World Liberty Financial begin to emerge in the stablecoin space.
Data shows USDC now accounts for roughly 27% of the $300 billion stablecoin market, up from about 21% in 2024.
Overall, while near-term trading activity remains under pressure, Coinbase’s structural growth story—driven by USDC expansion and product diversification—continues to strengthen.
