Ethereum staking provider Lido has reported a decline in annual revenue, citing a challenging macro landscape and competition.

In its 2025 annual report, the Lido Foundation said that the protocol's total revenue was $40.5 million, down from $52.4 million reached in 2024-a 23% decline in revenue on a year-on-year (YoY) basis.

Lido's market lead faces headwinds

Commenting on the revenue drop, Lido noted,

2025 unfolded under rewards compression driven by staking outflows and a network-wide decline in staking APR.

Regarding staking outflows, the protocol noted that this was further fueled by a structural shift towards exchange and institutional staking.

Capital rotation away from Simple LST toward exchange and institutional staking, and intensified competition, reduced the size of the segment where Lido holds category leadership.

The volatility in the aftermath of the announcement of the U.S.-Iran peace talks that never happened saw Bitcoin [BTC] rally 3.85% in five minutes on the 23rd of March. Bitcoin shot higher from $68,574 to $71,216 and reached a local high of $71,817 during Monday’s New York trading session.

The move broke past the “No-trade zone” that crypto analyst Ali Martinez pointed out in a post on X. There were 1.72 million Bitcoin transacted between $65.6k and $70.6k, making it a hotly contested zone.

Bitcoin was once again trading within this area. However, the Bitcoin buying opportunity highlighted last weekend is still viable based on realized price metrics.

Decoding BTC’s defense of the $68k zone

Crypto analyst Axel Adler Jr argued that the defense of the $68k level could see a rally to $80k commence. The reasoning revolved around the realized price.

The ETF realized price was at $79.9k, while the Bitcoin spot price was at $70.7k. This was a discount of around 11.5%. At the same time, the capital flows into the ETFs in the past month only brought the realized price down from $80.5k to $79.9k. In other words, the new capital inflows over the past month were too weak to meaningfully shift the aggregate cost basis lower.

As such, the $79.9k area will be a stern resistance in case of a Bitcoin rally, unless ETF capital inflows increase dramatically.

The cost basis of the cohort of Bitcoin holders with 100-1k BTC was at $67.9k. The trading session on the 23rd of March saw the leading crypto briefly drop to $67.4k before rebounding back above $70k.

The defense of the 100-1k holder cohort’s realized price underlined the resilience of the holders. A move below this price level can lead to more nervousness from the largest holders, which could add to the pressure on Bitcoin.

Bitcoin, with nearly 17 years of history, was once worth little, even below $1. The period of low value saw massive purchases, and some early buyers lost access to their Bitcoin holdings or were disregarded.

As such, an estimated 2.3 million Bitcoins, representing approximately 11% to 19% of the total supply, are lost, according to Bitbo data. These coins are inaccessible, especially when private keys, hard drives, and other storage media are forgotten or lost. 

Despite the large amount of supply lost, some are eventually recovered, and some BTC presumed lost finally wake up. In fact, over 6.5k pre-2012 BTC have reappeared in the market, according to Checkonchain data. 

The latest revived supply is from 2011-2012, associated with an Irish drug dealer, Cliffon Clinton.

South Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) has flagged massive crypto outflows to overseas exchanges amidst tougher oversight from regulators
Around $60 billion (₩90 trillion) worth of crypto assets were moved out to foreign exchanges and private wallets during the second half of 2025, a Wednesday report from the country’s top financial regulator revealed. This represents a 14% increase compared to the first quarter of the year, which saw a $52.2 billion (₩78.9 trillion) outflow.

However, the amount subjected to the Travel Rule (outgoing transactions of ₩1 million or more per transaction by a registered business operator) decreased in a 23%, going from ₩20.2 trillion in the first half of the year to ₩15.6 trillion in the second half
At the same time, wallet and custody platforms saw a modest uptick in user numbers (779, 20 more than those at the end of June 2025), but the value of assets they hold dropped sharply, partly because benchmark prices for several custodied tokens have fallen.

The number of accounts on South Korean crypto exchanges hit 11.1 million, a 3% increase from June 2025, while customer deposits jumped much faster, surging 31% to about $5.4 billion (₩8.1 trillion). But even with such an expansion, exchanges didn’t end up making more money. The 18 platforms still in operation booked roughly $253.4 million (₩380.7 billion) in operating profit for the second half, a 38% drop from the around $411.2 million (₩617.8 billion) they earned in the first six months.
