Mixed views on David Sacks’s scorecard

As crypto czar, Sacks helped push the GENIUS Act, a stablecoin legislation bill, into law last year. This was also done in collaboration with Bo Hines, who was Trump’s chief crypto advisor at that time.

However, after Bo Hines resigned and joined Tether, Patrick Witt, the current White House crypto chief advisor, stepped up to coordinate the broader crypto market structure bill – The CLARITY Act.

In 2024, the sector had a key policy agenda it was pushing. This included an overhaul of the regulatory authorities (SEC and CFTC), the establishment of a U.S strategic Bitcoin reserve (SBR), and the adoption of clear rules via the GENIUS Act and the CLARITY Act.

As it stands, most of the agenda has been met with the CLARITY Act still in progress. However, the U.S SBR has been muted and hasn’t received much attention lately. Unfortunately, some sections of the community are using it as the main scorecard for Sacks.

According to one user, for instance, both Bo Hines and David Sacks failed to audit the current BTC stack held by the U.S government and the way forward to establishing the related reserve.

In fact, according to Polygon’s official report, these transactions settled in seconds and cost fractions of a cent, making them significantly cheaper than legacy systems.

Why are institutions choosing Polygon?

The economics behind this shift are hard to ignore. Revolut reportedly processed the entire $1.2 billion volume for less than $700 in total fees, demonstrating the scale advantage of blockchain-based settlements.

Polygon consistently offers the lowest transaction costs among major chains – Up to 426x cheaper than Ethereum and 4x cheaper than Solana in many cases.

For institutions moving large capital, this difference compounds quickly. What would cost millions in traditional infrastructure can now be executed almost instantly at near-zero cost.

Traditional cross-border transfers still lag behind

Despite decades of innovation, traditional cross-border systems remain slow and expensive. Payments routed through correspondent banking networks like SWIFT can take 1–5 business days and involve multiple intermediaries.

Fees are another major drawback. Global remittance costs average around 6.49%, with banks often charging over 14% in some corridors.

In a post on X, CoinGlass pointed out that the Open Interest was rising, while the price and the CVD were falling. Together, they pointed to a long squeeze. In fact, the sell-off over the past week and the recent long squeeze have effectively flushed most long positions out of the market.

The 30-day liquidation map showed there was another cluster of high leverage long levels up to the $64K-mark that could be hunted next.

Analysis of on-chain metrics found that accumulation was still fighting against distribution pressure. The market seemed to be in a stressed, transitional state, with full-on distribution not commencing yet.

In other words, it may be, once again, decision time for Bitcoin.

Crypto analyst Axel Adler Jr observed that the 30-day net position change for long-term holders has been positive since January 2026. The LTH supply measured 14.2 million BTC at press time and despite the recent correction, they continued to accumulate.

A transition to selling was not yet underway. The last time this cohort transitioned to overall selling was in July 2025, with prices around the $120K-level.
