Ethereum staking provider Lido has reported a decline in annual revenue, citing a challenging macro landscape and competition. 

In its 2025 annual report, the Lido Foundation said that the protocol’s total revenue was $40.5 million, down from $52.4 million reached in 2024—a 23% decline in revenue on a year-on-year (YoY) basis.

Brent crude slid 4.7% to $99.55 on Wednesday, breaking below the $100 level that had held since mid-March, after Bloomberg reported the U.S. had drafted a 15-point plan to end the Iran conflict and delivered it to Tehran via Pakistan. Israel's Channel 12 reported separately that Washington was seeking a one-month ceasefire. Asian equities jumped 1.9%. The dollar weakened. U.S. and European futures pointed to further gains.

Bitcoin was trading at $71,019, up 0.9% over the past 24 hours but still down 6.4% on the week. The weekly loss reflects the whipsaw from last week's $75,000 high through the weekend's 48-hour ultimatum panic and Monday's two-headline liquidation cascade.

The daily move is quieter and more constructive, with bitcoin holding above $70,000 for a third consecutive day.

"Although the leading cryptocurrency did not immediately capitalize on the upward momentum and extend its gains, simply remaining at these high levels now suggests confidence among the bulls," FxPro chief market analyst Alex Kuptsikevich told CoinDesk in an email.

Ether (ETH) gained 1.7% to $2,164 but is down 9.2% on the week, the worst-performing major over seven days. $XRP ($XRP) added 0.2% to $1.42, down 8.5% weekly. Solana rose 2.5% to $91.69 but has lost 3.8% over the week. BNB slipped 0.5% to $638, down 6.8%. DOGE$0.09619 gained 1.7% to $0.094 but remains off 7.5% on the week. Tron (TRX) was the only major green on both timeframes, up 0.8% daily and 4.4% weekly.

Tom Lee's Bitmine debuts MAVAN Ethereum staking platform, plans to shift its ETH activity
Bitmine launched MAVAN, its institutional Ethereum staking platform, which Chairman Tom Lee said could become the world’s “largest” staking network.

The company currently holds 3,142,643 staked ETH worth $6.8 billion and plans to migrate its full treasury to MAVAN.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) announced the launch of MAVAN on Wednesday, an institutional-grade Ethereum staking platform designed to generate yield on its $6.8 billion in staked ETH.

The platform, formally named Made in America VAlidator Network, was originally built to support Bitmine’s own staking operations. The company said it now intends to offer the service to institutional investors, custodians, and exchanges seeking U.S.-based infrastructure for domestic validation alongside a globally disributed architecture for international clients.

Bitmine Chair Tom Lee said in a statement that MAVAN represents a critical step in the company’s plan to build one of the leading staking and onchain infrastructure platforms globally.

“Because Bitmine is the largest owner of Ethereum in the world, shortly after launch, MAVAN will be the largest Ethereum staking platform in the world,” Lee said. “We plan to expand across additional proof-of-stake networks and critical blockchain infrastructure over time, and through 2026, we’ll grow our efforts in areas such as onchain vaults, post-quantum client development, and more.”

Bitmine held 3,142,643 staked ETH as of March 24, valued at around $2,148 per ETH. The company said it staked 101,776 ETH worth $219 million to MAVAN in the past week and plans to stake nearly all of its remaining unstaked ETH on the platform in the coming weeks.

UK political crypto donations banned by Starmer government


Led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the U.K. government has announced an immediate moratorium on cryptocurrency donations to political parties, citing concerns that digital assets could be used to hide the origins of foreign money in British politics, according to the Press Association.

The move puts crypto at the centre of a wider crackdown on foreign interference, signaling that regulators are increasingly treating anonymous digital payments as a democratic risk rather than just a financial one.

The ban, triggered by the government-commissioned Rycroft review, covers donations of any size and takes effect today. Parties have 30 days from now to return any crypto received once legislation is passed, after which criminal penalties apply. Overseas donations from British expats will also be capped at £100,000 a year.

The review's author, former senior civil servant Philip Rycroft, stopped short of calling for a permanent ban — framing the moratorium as a pause for regulation to catch up with reality. But with the rules written into the Representation of the People Bill currently going through Parliament, the bar to lift them is high.

"I wasn't here to look out for the interests of any political party," Rycroft said. "I was here to look out for the interest of our democratic processes."

Members of Reform U.K., which currently leads polling data, walked out of Parliament during the announcement. Prime Minister Keir Starmer took a pointed swipe at Reform leader Nigel Farage, suggesting he would "say anything, no matter how divisive, if he is paid to do so."
