An employee of the United States Postal Service has admitted to abusing his position to power a bank fraud scheme.According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), North Carolina resident Andre Whitehurst used his role as a postal clerk to steal incoming and outgoing checks from the mail.He then sold those checks to co-conspirators, who deposited them into accounts opened under fictitious identities and withdrew the funds before banks could detect the fraud.The scheme led to more than $364,000 in attempted losses.Whitehurst pleaded guilty in June 2025 to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and theft of mail by a postal employee.He has been sentenced to 15 months in prison and one year of supervised release, according to Russ Ferguson.He also agreed to forfeit $74,000 and remains liable for restitution to victims.His co-conspirators have also pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.The case comes amid a broader resurgence in check fraud, even as check usage declines.According to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, the number of checks processed annually has dropped sharply over the past three decades, yet fraud tied to stolen and “washed” checks has surged, driven by the continued circulation of billions of checks and vulnerabilities in the mail system.Criminals often steal checks from mailboxes or collection boxes, alter them using common chemicals, and exploit delays in bank processing to withdraw funds before detection.Generated Image: Midjourney

Yet, despite Bitcoin standing strong, some have directly slammed Bitcoin and proclaimed,

However, in defense, James Van Straten pointed out that Bitcoin often drops on weekends not necessarily because of negative sentiment, but because it is one of the only major assets that trades 24/7.

When traditional markets like stocks are closed, investors who need liquidity or want to manage risk turn to Bitcoin, leading to short-term sell-offs.

However, he also added that if stocks and other financial assets become tokenized and start trading around the clock, investors will have more options to hedge and move capital. This could reduce Bitcoin’s role as the “only liquid asset” during off-hours and create a more balanced, mature market environment.

Delaware to regulate stablecoins under banking framework in new bill



Two Delaware lawmakers are working to establish stablecoin regulations as part of a broader package of regulatory proposals aimed at “modernizing” the state’s financial sector.

In a statement on Monday, the Delaware Senate Democrats announced that Senator Spiros Mantzavinos and Representative Bill Bush had filed the Delaware Banking Modernization Act (Senate Bill 16) and the Delaware Payment Stablecoin Act (Senate Bill 19).

“This legislative package sends a signal loud and clear: here in Delaware, we’re democratizing our financial services and lowering the barriers to entry, making it easier for all residents to send, receive and save money with just an internet connection,” said Delaware Governor Matt Meyer.

Delaware has generally had a friendly and proactive approach toward crypto and blockchain. As far back as 2016, former Governor Jack Markell launched the Delaware Blockchain Initiative to attract blockchain firms. It has also made minor regulatory adjustments to support the sector.

However, some technology and crypto firms left the state last year, including Coinbase, which reincorporated in Texas after expressing dissatisfaction with Delaware’s Chancery Court, which handles corporate law disputes.

These two bills could help the state re-attract some of these businesses.

“Our administration is focused on attracting the jobs of the future to the First State, and that includes continuing to foster an innovative banking ecosystem that will open doors not just for workers and companies, but for every single person who participates in our economy,” added Meyer.
