Crypto asset manager Bitwise says Hyperliquid’s $HYPE token is significantly undervalued, arguing investors are still treating the platform like a crypto-native derivatives exchange instead of a broader financial trading “super-app.”

In a Tuesday blog post, Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan said the market is making “two errors” in valuing Hyperliquid, underestimating the size of the market it is targeting and failing to appreciate how the token captures value from platform activity.

$HYPE was more than 8% higher over 24 hours, trading around $48.70 at publication time.

“Today’s prices suggest you’re being offered the second at the cost of the first,” Hougan said, referring to Hyperliquid’s ambitions to serve trading across crypto, equities, commodities, FX and prediction markets.

Hyperliquid is a decentralized trading platform best known for crypto perpetual futures, but it has recently expanded into equities, commodities and prediction markets, helping drive a surge in trading activity and investor interest.

Hougan estimated Hyperliquid is generating between $800 million and $1 billion in annualized revenue while trading at roughly 10–14 times its buyback stream. That compares favorably with traditional financial exchanges such as Robinhood (HOOD) and CME Group (CME), which trade at materially higher valuation multiples despite slower growth.

According to Hougan, Hyperliquid represents a new generation of crypto projects designed to directly accrue value to token holders. He noted that 99% of trading fees on the platform are used to buy back $HYPE tokens, creating what ihe described as a more direct relationship between platform growth and token value.

JPMorgan: Ether Lags Bitcoin by Wide Margin as Institutional Flows Diverge Since October De-Leveraging
Institutional money is not flowing back into Ethereum with anything like the force it has returned to Bitcoin. That is the central finding of a new JPMorgan note that traces the divergence in flow recovery since the sharp de-leveraging event that hit digital asset markets in October 2025. The numbers, as laid out by analysts led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou, are stark. Spot Bitcoin ETFs have recouped roughly two-thirds of the outflows they suffered during that episode. Spot Ether ETFs, by contrast, have managed to recover only about one-third of their lost capital, according to the original report.

The flow gap mirrors price performance. Since the October unwind, Bitcoin has rebounded with more vigor while Ether and the broader altcoin complex have lagged. The JPMorgan team does not treat this as a temporary dislocation. They frame it as a symptom of something deeper: a market that is increasingly discriminating between Bitcoin’s established digital gold narrative and Ethereum’s reliance on network activity, DeFi usage, and tangible real-world applications. Without a meaningful pickup in those on-chain metrics, the note warns, Ethereum and the altcoin market may struggle to close the gap.

Bitcoin miner Hut 8 committed $16 million to expand water capacity in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, as part of development plans for its River Bend AI data center campus.

According to a Tuesday announcement, the investment includes a new water well, about eight miles of water main and other system upgrades. Hut 8 said the assets will be transferred to the parish after completion, which is expected in the second half of 2026, at no cost to taxpayers.

Hut 8 said Phase 1 of the River Bend campus represents a multibillion-dollar capital investment and is expected to support about 1,000 construction workers at peak build-out and at least 75 permanent jobs once operational.

The company said the campus will use a closed-loop cooling system designed to reduce ongoing water demand and rely on water sources outside the residential aquifer.

The River Bend campus is part of Hut 8’s North American energy and digital infrastructure platform, which the company said is being developed in partnership with public- and private-sector stakeholders.

Despite posting back-to-back quarterly losses in late 2025 and early 2026, shares of Hut 8 have climbed around 93% year-to-date, according to data from Bitcoinminingstock.io, as investors increasingly focus on the company’s AI infrastructure and power leasing business.

In December 2025, Hut 8 signed a 15-year lease for 245 MW of AI data center capacity at the River Bend campus in a deal the company said is valued at $7 billion. Hut 8 said the agreement includes payments financially backed by Google.

The company followed that agreement in May with another 15-year lease tied to 352 MW of capacity at its Beacon Point campus in Texas in a deal it said is valued at $9.8 billion. Hut 8 added that the two campuses represent a combined $16.8 billion in contracted lease revenue tied to 597 MW of
