other Iggy.Rapper Iggy Azalea is facing a class-action lawsuit in the US, accusing her of misleading investors about the real-world utility and future development of her Solana-based memecoin Mother Iggy (MOTHER).

The complaint filed by plaintiff Kenneth Kolbrak in a Manhattan federal court on Monday claimed Azalea, whose real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly, made representations about the token having real-world utility, commercial integrations and continuing development that never materialized.

“Those representations were limited, incomplete, contradicted, temporary, or not delivered in a durable way,” the complaint said. “The terms and effects of the market support arrangements were never disclosed to consumers.”

Azalea’s MOTHER was one of the buzzier tokens launched amid a frenzy of celebrity-tied memecoins in 2024. Like other celebrity memecoins, its launch was marred by allegations of insider trading.

The token was launched in May 2024 and reached a peak market value of over $136 million by mid-June. Its market capitalization is now sitting at $1.3 million, according to CoinGecko.

Unlike other celebrities who launched memecoins, Azalea has remained involved with the token, interacting with supporters on social media and promoting it on X.

According to the complaint, Azalea promoted the token as “the native currency of an expanding ecosystem of real businesses controlled or co-founded by Azalea, including a telecommunications company, an online casino, a luxury gifting marketplace, a merchandise store, and entertainment integrations.”

The strongest case for a bull trap comes from the perpetual market, where capital positioning and liquidation data both lean bearish.

CoinGlass data shows the OI-Weighted Funding Rate has turned negative again, and sharply.

At press time, the rate dropped to roughly -0.0676%, indicating that the majority of capital in the perpetual market is held by short traders positioning for a price decline. It stands as the second steepest negative funding reading of the year.

Tom Lee’s BitMine Immersion Technologies has finally staked 87.9% of its total holdings. According to on-chain data, BitMine has staked an additional 190,800 ETH worth $451 million.

With this move, the largest Ethereum [ETH] Digital Assets Treasury (DAT) total staked ETH has reached 4,553,557 ETH, worth $10.77 billion.
By the end of April, the firm had already staked 77.2% of its overall ETH holdings, and in the first week of May, it crossed 87%.

Bitcoin Market Not Positioned for Upside Despite Rally Above $80K, Says Bitfinex

Bitcoin ($BTC) is currently on a roll, surging past the $80,000 mark and touching base above $81,000. While this rally could be a reason for positive sentiment, market experts believe otherwise.

In a weekly report from the crypto exchange Bitfinex, analysts warned that bitcoin’s rally to $80,000 is misleading because the market is not positioned for upside movement. According to the analysts, $BTC is currently stuck between bulls and bears, conviction and caution. Considering market conditions, the leading digital asset is likely to lean toward the negative rather than the positive.

A Misleading Rally
To substantiate their claims, the Bitfinex analysts highlighted an improving but uneven demand wave. Based on historical data, $BTC rallies have been sustained by strong demand, but that is not the case this time.

Underlying demand is improving with steady inflows from spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and continued accumulation from institutions like Strategy. However, the demand is not strong enough to absorb the overhead supply and confirm a sustained breakout. In fact, $BTC is in a fragile yet constructive range, with short-term holders taking profits as they exit positions near breakeven.
