An anonymous cryptocurrency whale has opened a combined $81.6 million in leveraged short positions against Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum ($ETH) on the Hyperliquid exchange, according to blockchain tracking platform Lookonchain. The move, detected on-chain, reveals a significant bearish bet by a single entity amid current market conditions.Lookonchain data shows the whale address, beginning with 0x004e, established two separate short positions. The Bitcoin short carries a total size of $35.78 million with 40x leverage, entering at an average price of $71,870.5. The liquidation price for this position is set at $72,755.85.The Ethereum short is larger, with a total size of $45.59 million, but uses lower leverage at 25x. The average entry price is $2,275.15, with a liquidation price of $2,327.03.

The Grayscale Zcash ETF amendment adds details about the Orchard shielded-pool vulnerability disclosed in June. Developers addressed the flaw through an emergency network upgrade. They said exploitation appeared unlikely, although Zcash privacy features prevented definitive verification.

Zcash later activated the Ironwood upgrade on July 28, 2026. Ironwood retired Orchard and introduced a new shielded pool. A turnstile limits withdrawals to the amount verifiably deposited, preventing any counterfeit ZEC from leaving the retired pool.

The disclosure matters for the Zcash ETF filing since the trust holds the asset directly. Network defects, supply concerns, or another emergency upgrade could affect custody, valuation, and the ZEC price. The filing places those risks alongside market manipulation, liquidity, and regulatory concerns.

Meanwhile, ZEC price traded near $555 after gaining almost 10% in 24 hours. The token carried a market capitalization near $9.4 billion. CoinGecko data shows that ZCSH volume has remained below $5 million since June. It exceeded $23 million during November 2025.
