Multicoin Capital Moves $19.8M in HYPE to Coinbase Prime as HYPE Jumps 23%

Multicoin Capital moved 308,884 HYPE valued at a combined $19.8 million to Coinbase Prime over two days, with the latest transfers occurring as the token rallied sharply. 

The crypto investment firm sent 136,174 HYPE, valued at $9.65 million, to the platform in two transactions about seven hours before the time of reporting. 

That followed a separate deposit of 172,710 HYPE worth $10.15 million a day earlier. 

HYPE was trading at $72.37 at the time of reporting, up 23% over the previous 24 hours.

Capital.com to offer spot virtual-asset services in the UAE
Capital.com has announced plans to offer virtual asset investment services to clients in the UAE after its affiliate, Capital Vault Virtual Services L.L.C. - S.P.C. (Capital Vault UAE), received a licence from the Capital Market Authority (CMA), the UAE's federal virtual asset regulator.

The licence allows Capital Vault UAE to deal in virtual assets as an agent or matching principal and provide custody services for clients. Capital Vault UAE is among the first firms licensed under the CMA's virtual asset framework, with the regulated services set to be made available to Capital.com clients in the UAE.

Once launched, UAE clients will be able to buy virtual assets through the Capital.com app.

The assets will be held under the client-asset rules applicable to a CMA-licensed custodian, with Capital Vault providing execution, custody and settlement services under its licence. The company operates from an office in Abu Dhabi.

Commenting on the licence, Rahul Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Capital Vault UAE, said:

“The UAE is at the forefront of virtual-asset regulation in the region, and the Capital Market Authority's review process for virtual-asset licensing reflects that rigour. We have established an office in Abu Dhabi and are building a local team dedicated to virtual assets, and our presence in the UAE is pivotal to our business.”

Commenting on the licence, Tarik Chebib, Chief Executive Officer MENA, Capital.com, said:

“Capital.com clients across the region have been asking for a straightforward, regulated way to buy and hold virtual-assets alongside the markets they already trade. This licence lets us bring that to clients in the UAE, with Capital Vault providing the infrastructure behind it, and more products to follow.”

The UAE expansion follows Capital Vault Europe's authorisation under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework

XRP jumps 11%: can bulls turn $1.10 into the start of a bigger breakout?
Ripple’s $XRP extended its gains on Thursday as improving liquidity conditions supported a broad rally across the cryptocurrency market.

$XRP is trading above $1.1 after surging more than 11% on Wednesday, outperforming Bitcoin over the last 24 hours.

The rally gained momentum after the US Treasury announced an expansion of its debt buyback operations, improving risk appetite and contributing to a large-scale short squeeze across the crypto market.

Treasury buybacks trigger crypto short squeeze

The US Department of the Treasury announced on Wednesday that it would double the size of some buyback operations designed to support liquidity in longer-dated Treasury securities.

According to Reuters, liquidity-support buybacks for longer-dated nominal coupon securities will increase from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation.

The announcement eased concerns about liquidity in the Treasury market and encouraged investors to increase their exposure to riskier assets.

Improved market sentiment contributed to a short squeeze across the cryptocurrency market, accelerating gains in $XRP and other digital assets.

CoinGlass data shows that 172,642 traders were liquidated over the past 24 hours, with total crypto liquidations exceeding $3.21 billion.

$XRP recorded $120.71 million in liquidations. Long positions accounted for more than 85% of $XRP liquidations, indicating that leveraged bullish positioning remained elevated despite the broader upward move.

$XRP technical outlook: Recovery holds above 50-day EMA

$XRP trades around $1.14 on Thursday, maintaining its position above the 50-day Exponential Moving Average at $1.076.

However, the token remains below the 100-day EMA at $1.153 and the 200-day EMA at $1.338. These levels represent significant barriers that could limit the recovery.

Stablecoin infrastructure investment has been projected to reach as much as $8 billion in 2027 as institutional capital moves toward regulated payment, settlement and compliance systems supporting digital currencies.

NGPES, a French fintech group building regulated payment infrastructure between traditional finance and digital assets, said in a report shared with crypto.news that investment across stablecoin issuers and related infrastructure could reach $4 billion to $6 billion in 2026 before increasing to between $7 billion and $8 billion next year.

The projections form part of the company’s outlook for a stablecoin market where investment is increasingly directed toward payment rails, institutional custody, treasury platforms, compliance technology and reserve management systems.

“The investment story around stablecoins has fundamentally changed,” NGPES President Suren Hayriyan said. “Five years ago, investors were asking which stablecoin would win. Today, they are increasingly asking which regulated infrastructure will enable institutional adoption.”

Stablecoin infrastructure investment could accelerate through 2027
NGPES based its projections on publicly announced venture investments, strategic financings and infrastructure transactions across the stablecoin sector.

Capital is increasingly being directed toward regulated payment infrastructure, treasury and settlement platforms, institutional custody, compliance systems, reserve management, cross-border payment orchestration and developer APIs, according to the company.

Deal sizes have also increased. NGPES estimated that average venture deal sizes in the sector rose between 30% and 40% during 2025 and could increase another 25% to 35% in 2026. A further 20% to 30% increase could follow in 2027 as later-stage funding, strategic partnerships and acquisitions account for more activity.

An Optimism-funded core development team cast a decisive 8.486 million OP vote that flipped a running tally and secured approval of a plan to move around $49.7 million worth of OP tokens from the user airdrop allocation into a Foundation-administered fund.

The proposal redesignates 546.9 million OP, or 12.7% of total supply, from the user airdrop allocation as a Strategic Ecosystem Fund administered by the Optimism Foundation meant to support the adoption and growth of the OP Mainnet and Enterprise.

The vote ended with 17.974 million OP in favor and 10.931 million against. With 16 minutes and 52 seconds left, delegate.testinprod-io.eth, or Test in Prod, cast a whale-sized vote in support, lifting approval to 61.84% from 45.77%.

Excluding that position, final approval would have been 46.47%. The proposal would have met quorum and kept the funds for user allocation.

Test in Prod’s Agora profile describes it as a core development team of the Optimism Collective. In a 2025 Security Council nomination, the team said it was “fully funded by the Collective,” and secured a new 12-month term on the Optimism Security Council in June.

Voting power was snapshotted on Aug. 13 at block 155,526,433, one week before voting closed. Any OP bought or delegated after that snapshot could not count toward the proposal.
