Ethereum developers embrace Vitalik Buterin's long-term vision but urge quicker execution



Ethereum's ambitious plan to reinvent itself over the next several years is getting an enthusiastic reception from many of the network's researchers, though several say the biggest challenge won't be deciding what to build, but how quickly it can happen.

Earlier last week, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin published an updated version of the "Lean Ethereum" strawmap, a long-term vision that would overhaul nearly every major part of the blockchain. The strawmap was originally published in February. Buterin's updated proposal calls for sweeping changes aimed at making Ethereum faster, cheaper to run, more private and resistant to future threats such as quantum computers.

Ethereum is back in the spotlight as the crypto market rebounds, but this time the main story is not only about price. While Bitcoin reclaimed the $63,000 level after President Trump’s latest pro crypto comments, a deeper institutional shift may be forming between Bitcoin and Ethereum.

BitMine, the Ethereum treasury company chaired by Tom Lee, has continued adding ETH to its balance sheet. Its latest weekly update shows that the company acquired 42,197 ETH, bringing total holdings to 5,742,237 ETH, equal to around 4.8% of Ethereum’s total supply. BitMine also said its total crypto, cash, marketable securities, and “moonshot” holdings reached $11.1 billion.

The Analyst Who Predicted the Drop Speaks Out Again: “Bitcoin’s Four-Year Cycle Is Running Like Clockwork”Renowned cryptocurrency analyst Benjamin Cowen, in his latest market analysis, examined Bitcoin’s price movements. Cowen noted that despite recent criticism and ridicule, Bitcoin’s famous “four-year cycle” pattern continues to function flawlessly.
An experienced analyst evaluating Bitcoin noted that the market cycle in 2026 is a less volatile replica of the 2018 bear market.

Cowen’s charts show that price movements since the beginning of the year almost perfectly mirror those of 2018. According to the analyst, the local low in February, the rising lows in March and April, the rejection from the 200-day moving average in May, and the drop below the previous low in June all occurred on the same timeline in both years.
The proportional similarity between the prices is quite remarkable:
