A theory circulating in the $XRP community suggests the token may already be trading at significantly higher prices on private institutional ledgers, far removed from the public market price visible on exchanges today.

The idea, which has resurfaced in community discussions, points to occasional price glitches that have appeared on exchange feeds over the years, including one from June 2022 that briefly showed $XRP at $1,000. Believers argue these are not errors but brief glimpses of what institutions are testing privately before any public price discovery event occurs.

The theory draws on comments made by Bob Way, a former Ripple employee, who described in 2019 how $XRP could function as a neutral bridge asset sitting at the centre of a massive global liquidity pool connecting over 180 fiat currencies, along with gold, silver, and other digital assets. Proponents argue that for $XRP to fulfil that role at the scale of global cross-border settlements, the price would need to be orders of magnitude higher than current levels to provide sufficient liquidity without requiring enormous volumes of the token to be used per transaction.

The speculation has been further fuelled by comparisons between the $XRP Ledger and Ethereum across real-world asset metrics. Supporters cite data showing XRPL reached its first 400 million tokenised real-world assets in 15 months compared to Ethereum’s 36 months, and that 90-day inflows into XRPL recently stood at $1.9 billion versus $1.6 billion for Ethereum. RLUSD supply on XRPL has also narrowly surpassed its Ethereum counterpart.

Bitmine's Tom Lee ties ether strength to Clarity Act odds as treasury nears 5% of Ethereum's total supply
Bitmine bought 42,197 ether worth roughly $74 million last week, lifting its treasury to 5.74 million ETH, or 4.8% of the token’s total supply.

Chairman Tom Lee tied ether’s recent strength against bitcoin to Clarity Act odds hitting roughly 50% on prediction markets, their highest in two weeks.

The Norwalk, Connecticut-based company disclosed total crypto and cash holdings of $11.1 billion as of June 28, comprising an ether stake valued at $1,800 per ether, 206 bitcoin, $527 million in cash and marketable securities, and equity positions in Beast Industries and Eightco Holdings, according to a statement Monday.

Chairman Tom Lee made an argument tying ether's recent gains against bitcoin to shifting regulatory sentiment, citing prediction-market pricing that put the Clarity Act's passage at about 50% odds, the highest in two weeks.

"We believe regulatory clarity is an important milestone, enabling crypto, particularly smart contract platforms like Ethereum, to benefit," he said.

Ether traded near $1,770 at publication, up 10% in the past month compared to bitcoin’s barely 2% rise in the same time, The Block’s price page shows.

The company has also staked 4,879,157 ETH through MAVAN, its Made in America Validator Network, representing about 85% of its total ether. Bitmine's own validators generated a seven-day annualized yield of 2.68%, Lee said. At full deployment across MAVAN and its staking partners, the company projects annualized staking rewards of $277 million, according to the release.
