Hyperliquid's HYPE was the worst hit, down 8.8% on the day and 18.6% on the week to about $61. Tron held up best, up 3.7% on the week.

The pressure came from the same place as Tuesday. A renewed rout in semiconductor shares, the stocks that have led this year's market with triple-digit gains, sent the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index down 7.9% on Tuesday, with all 30 members falling.

On June 23, the U.S. Department of Justice seized a cloud computing account used to power backend systems tied to Cambodia’s Huione Group, escalating a global push to disrupt crypto-enabled fraud laundering networks operating across messaging platforms and blockchain rails.

The move targeted infrastructure supporting Huione Guarantee, a Telegram-based marketplace alleged by U.S. authorities to have functioned as an escrow hub for laundering illicit cryptocurrency proceeds alongside trade in stolen financial data and other criminal services, according to DOJ filings.

The seizure comes amid rising cybercrime losses. U.S. victims reported $7.2 billion in cryptocurrency investment fraud in 2025, according to FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center data, within total cybercrime losses of $21 billion for the year.

The DOJ said blockchain intelligence firms Chainalysis and Elliptic, working with Google’s CyberCrime Investigation Team, assisted in the investigation.

DOJ hits Huione’s technical backbone

Huione Guarantee, also known as Haowang Guarantee, is a Telegram-operated marketplace alleged to have provided escrow services for crypto laundering, stolen financial data, identity credentials, and other criminal services, according to U.S. court documents and DOJ statements.

Elliptic previously reported that Huione evolved into a broader digital finance infrastructure, including a stablecoin called USDH, activity across Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Tron, and wallet and exchange-like services. In practice, the structure looked like a separate financial network operating outside regulated compliance systems.

The DOJ’s seizure focused on the cloud account supporting that infrastructure, rather than only wallets or individual bad actors. That matters because U.S. authorities are increasingly trying to disrupt the technical systems that allow fraud

Chainlink teams up with 47 South Korean, European banks to speed up international money transfers Blockchain infrastructure company Chainlink said it is joining a group of banks that collectively represent over $10 trillion in assets under management to unlock real-time, stablecoin-based cross-border payments for foreign-exchange trades within a year.

The coalition, called Project Pangea, aims to redefine the global FX markets, Niki Ariyasinghe, Chainlink's vice president of Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, said in a video interview on Tuesday. In addition to Chainlink, the group includes Qivalis, a euro stablecoin consortium backed by 37 European banks, and UniKA, a Korean banking alliance representing more than 10 commercial banks.

The project aims to explore moving foreign-exchange settlement from a traditional 48-hour (T+2) timeline toward near-instant (T+0) settlement using regulated euro- and South Korean won-pegged stablecoins, or crypto tokens whose value is tied 1:1 to the underlying currency.

The initiative will evaluate whether the stablecoins can be exchanged through atomic payment-versus-payment (PvP) settlement, in which both sides of a currency trade settle simultaneously or not at all, thereby reducing counterparty and settlement risk.

The project goes beyond a tech experiment, Ariyasinghe said. Chainlink is drawing a line in the sand between theoretical "proofs-of-concept" and actual infrastructure.
