The U.S. Treasury Department has expanded its crackdown on a Southeast Asia-based fraud network. It sanctioned dozens of individuals and entities while proposing new restrictions against H-Pay, a payment firm regulators say emerged from the remnants of the notorious Huione Group.

In a coordinated action announced on 23 June, the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control [OFAC] sanctioned nine individuals. Also, it sanctioned 26 entities linked to the Prince Group Transnational Criminal Organization

DeXe (DEXE) defied a falling crypto market on Tuesday, surging roughly 70% in 24 hours as a violent short squeeze forced bearish traders to cover their positions.

The move pushed DEXE to a fresh yearly high near $24 while Bitcoin and most altcoins traded in the red. Derivatives data show the rally came from leverage, not fresh spot demand.

Record Open Interest Fueled the Short Squeeze

DEXE open interest climbed to roughly $70 million on Tuesday, the highest reading on record. That spike arrived as price went vertical, a classic sign of forced positioning rather than steady accumulation.

Coinglass data shows shorts have been the punished side for months. Red short-liquidation bars dominate the chart, while long liquidations stayed small throughout.

The decisive blow came from a short-liquidation cascade worth about $1.3 million, the largest on the chart. That wave of forced buybacks mechanically drove the 70% candle and extended a multi-month rally.

Fading Volume Warns the Rally Could Stall

The squeeze looks powerful, yet the weekly chart flashes warning signs. DEXE has retraced almost its entire 2025 decline, climbing from near $1.73 back to the $24.20 ceiling that has capped its price since February 2025.

This week’s candle tagged that level and got rejected, closing near $23.50. Price reclaimed the 0.618 Fibonacci support around $15.60, which keeps the structure bullish for now.

However, weekly volume is falling as price prints new highs. The relative strength index shows bearish divergence, sliding since April even as DEXE climbs to a fresh high.

Both signals suggest the move lacks a strong buying base. The pattern echoes other leverage-driven altcoins that spiked and then faded.

The Price Problem

The launch lands in difficult conditions. ADA hit its lowest level in five years this month, down roughly 35% over the past 30 days. Meanwhile, its all-time high of $3.09 came on September 2, 2021, today's price of $0.16 sits 95% below that peak.

The backdrop is bleak. At first, the analytics platform TapTools shut down earlier this year while Cardano cancelled its 2026 Singapore Summit. Hoskinson warned of a "wave of failures" among Cardano DeFi projects in the same period.

KG Inicis has entered into a partnership with the Solana Foundation to evaluate digital asset payment infrastructure, including stablecoin-based checkout, merchant settlement systems, and blockchain-powered loyalty programs. The initiative will be developed alongside affiliate KG Financial, which has been conducting proof-of-concept work focused on stablecoin issuance and payment services using Solana’s blockchain network.

The agreement represents one of the most significant attempts by a major South Korean payment company to evaluate how stablecoins could function within an established merchant network rather than a crypto-native ecosystem.

According to a June 23 report from The Wall Street Journal, CBOE Global Markets is considering turning its continuous Bitcoin and Ether futures into perpetual futures following recent regulatory developments in the United States.

The report cited Rob Hocking, CBOE's global head of derivatives, who said the exchange is exploring the possibility after the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved cryptocurrency perpetual futures for prediction market operator Kalshi.

While Hocking did not provide a timeline for any changes, the comments place one of the largest U.S. exchange operators among a growing list of firms responding to fresh competition in the perpetual futures market.

CBOE introduced its continuous Bitcoin and Ether futures contracts in December, offering products with expirations extending as far as 10 years.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the exchange is now studying whether perpetual contracts could provide an alternative structure following the CFTC's decision to permit similar products on regulated U.S. venues.
