group of US Senate Democrats is urging Senate Republican leaders to hold hearings into a reported $500 million deal between the Trump family’s crypto firm and Abu Dhabi royalty.

In a letter on Tuesday, the Democrats told Republicans, who control the Senate, lead its committees and decide on hearings, that they should “immediately hold hearings” into the deal and have Trump administration officials testify about it under oath.

The Wall Street Journal reported in January that an Abu Dhabi investment company backed by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates’ national security adviser, signed a deal in January 2025 to buy a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial, the crypto platform tied to US President Donald Trump.

Months later, in May 2025, the Trump administration made a major arms and artificial intelligence chip deal with the UAE, which the Democratic senators said came “despite concerns raised by US national security officials that China could access the chips.” Trump has said he wasn’t aware of the World Liberty deal.

The letter is the Democrats' latest bid to probe World Liberty Financial’s dealings and its possible ties to decisions the president has made. Both Trump critics and supporters have criticized the perceived conflict of interest posed by the Trump family’s sprawling crypto interests amid Trump’s push to deregulate the sector.

Regulatory Readiness Meets Market Demand
HSBC Bank Middle East Limited has launched a tokenized deposit service in the United Arab Emirates, introducing around-the-clock blockchain-based cash management for corporate clients and adding the dirham to a growing multicurrency digital network.

The new service allows eligible corporate and institutional clients to move funds instantly across borders and between internal treasury entities, integrating blockchain rails with traditional bank deposits. The network already supports euros, British pounds, U.S. dollars, Hong Kong dollars and Singapore dollars.

Mohamed Al Marzooqi, chief executive officer of HSBC UAE, said the rollout reflects both regulatory readiness and market demand.

“The introduction of tokenized deposits to the UAE is a reflection of the maturity of the local regulatory environment when it comes to digital finance and the genuine demand from corporates operating in and through this market for more capable treasury tools,” Al Marzooqi said.

Analyzing Dogecoin’s drop below $0.08: What happens next?Dogecoin extended its bearish streak, breaching the $0.08 support level. In doing so, the memecoin dropped to a low of $0.079 for the first time in nearly three weeks.

As of this writing, Dogecoin traded at $0.07907, down 5.54% on the daily charts. With the recent price drop, the memecoin fell below the 9- and 21-day moving averages, validating this bearish structure.

Dogecoin rising liquidation sparks panic selling
After Dogecoin [DOGE] dropped below $0.08, it sparked massive liquidations for leveraged positions.

According to CoinGlass data, $7.68 million worth of long positions were liquidated. Such high levels of liquidations showed that traders were bullish and expected the price levels to hold. In addition to the forced exit, the price dip and liquidation caused fear, prompting traders to panic and close their positions.

Looking at the perpetuals, the Sell Volume surged to 1.3 billion while the Buy Volume dropped to 1.1 billion. At the same time, the Net buying also remained negative, dropping to  -1.1 billion. With sellers outpacing buyers, it suggests more perps positions closed.

The same market behavior was observed on the futures side. Over the past 24 hours, $460 million flowed out of futures compared to $413 million in Inflows.

CBOE eyes crypto perpetuals as Kalshi upends futures marketCBOE has begun evaluating a conversion of its Bitcoin and Ether futures into perpetual contracts after crypto perpetuals generated more than $8.5 billion in trading volume on Kalshi within weeks of launch.

According to a June 23 report from The Wall Street Journal, CBOE Global Markets is considering turning its continuous Bitcoin and Ether futures into perpetual futures following recent regulatory developments in the United States.

The report cited Rob Hocking, CBOE’s global head of derivatives, who said the exchange is exploring the possibility after the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved cryptocurrency perpetual futures for prediction market operator Kalshi.

While Hocking did not provide a timeline for any changes, the comments place one of the largest U.S. exchange operators among a growing list of firms responding to fresh competition in the perpetual futures market.

CBOE introduced its continuous Bitcoin and Ether futures contracts in December, offering products with expirations extending as far as 10 years.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the exchange is now studying whether perpetual contracts could provide an alternative structure following the CFTC’s decision to permit similar products on regulated U.S. venues.
