Technical Outlook: BTC Faces Strong Resistance While Bears Maintain Overall Control

Bitcoin remains under bearish pressure after losing key support levels and continues trading below the major EMA cluster. Although price is attempting to stabilize above the $60K region, the overall market structure still favors sellers until BTC reclaims higher resistance.

20 EMA: $65,028

50 EMA: $68,780

100 EMA: $71,887

200 EMA: $77,537

Price remains below all major EMAs.

The 20 EMA is acting as immediate dynamic resistance.

The 50 & 100 EMA continue to cap recovery attempts.

The 200 EMA remains the key macro trend barrier.


👉 BTC must reclaim the EMA cluster to signal a meaningful trend reversal.

The overall weakness in the decentralized applications (DApps) industry has led multiple projects to shut down, while the aggregate total value locked (TVL) shrank by 23% in three months. Ethereum’s $38 billion decentralized finance (DeFi) TVL represents a 53% market share, signaling institutional investors’ preference. Additionally, when including its layer-2 scaling solutions, the Ethereum ecosystem accounts for 43% of decentralized exchange (DEX) volumes. However, Ethereum faces criticism for relatively low 30-day fees of $11 million.

Despite controlled $ETH issuance at 0.8% equivalent annual inflation, the staking reward rate was 2.7%, lower than the US money market yield. Adding to investors' concerns, the publicly listed company BitMine (BMNR US) held $9.3 billion in unrealized losses on its $ETH reserves. The company, led by its Chairman Tom Lee, continues to increase its position.

Even though there is no imminent risk of BitMine being forced to reduce its $ETH holdings, the situation likely deters institutional investors’ appetite. More concerningly, US-listed Ether spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) posted net outflows for six consecutive weeks. An analysis shared by Cryptoquant on June 23 showed a split in positioning on Gate crypto exchange, with select altcoins recording stronger outflows than inflows while other cryptocurrencies attracted increased deposits. The findings were based on the Gate Netflow Heatmap, which tracks inflows and outflows across multiple crypto assets.

The data showed a group of tokens recording stronger outflows than inflows, a pattern often associated with accumulation activity.

The analyst explained:

“Some altcoins are leaving Gate more than others. This may be an early sign of accumulation.”

The analysis identified several assets showing stronger outflows than inflows, including voyager token (VGX), amp (AMP), 0x (ZRX), the sandbox (SAND), quant (QNT), yearn.finance (YFI), YFF, chiliz (CHZ), aavegotchi (GHST), decentraland (MANA), jasmycoin (JASMY), and compound (COMP). Exchange withdrawals can indicate that investors are moving holdings into private wallets rather than keeping them available for immediate trading.

Investors may be prioritizing these assets for accumulation and future speculation, according to the analysis. Those positions were reflected in the stronger outflow activity observed on Gate.
