The overall weakness in the decentralized applications (DApps) industry has led multiple projects to shut down, while the aggregate total value locked (TVL) shrank by 23% in three months. Ethereum’s $38 billion decentralized finance (DeFi) TVL represents a 53% market share, signaling institutional investors’ preference. Additionally, when including its layer-2 scaling solutions, the Ethereum ecosystem accounts for 43% of decentralized exchange (DEX) volumes. However, Ethereum faces criticism for relatively low 30-day fees of $11 million.

Despite controlled $ETH issuance at 0.8% equivalent annual inflation, the staking reward rate was 2.7%, lower than the US money market yield. Adding to investors' concerns, the publicly listed company BitMine (BMNR US) held $9.3 billion in unrealized losses on its $ETH reserves. The company, led by its Chairman Tom Lee, continues to increase its position.

Even though there is no imminent risk of BitMine being forced to reduce its $ETH holdings, the situation likely deters institutional investors’ appetite. More concerningly, US-listed Ether spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) posted net outflows for six consecutive weeks. Bitcoin price confirms H&S pattern, will it crash below $60K?

Bitcoin price has confirmed a bearish head-and-shoulders breakdown, putting the $60,000 support zone under pressure as traders react to easing Middle East tensions and persistent institutional selling.

According to data from crypto.news, Bitcoin ($BTC) price dropped from an intraday high near $64,500 to a low of $61,990 on June 23 before stabilizing around the $62,000 area.

Bitcoin’s decline coincided with a sharp drop in oil prices after reports of progress in U.S.-Iran negotiations and a 60-day waiver allowing purchases of Iranian crude pushed Brent crude to its lowest level in nearly three months.

At the same time, a selloff in artificial intelligence and semiconductor stocks weighed on risk sentiment across global markets, while gold fell roughly 1.5% and silver slid more than 5% as traders unwound defensive positions.

Crypto derivatives markets amplified the selloff, with over $600 million in liquidations recorded in 24 hours, the bulk of which came from long positions.

Meanwhile, institutional demand remains weak after U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs entered one of their longest outflow streaks this year, removing a key source of demand that had previously helped cushion selling pressure in the spot market. Coinbase’s premium has also remained negative, suggesting U.S. investors have been selling rather than accumulating during recent sessions.

Although diplomatic developments have eased fears of an immediate Middle East supply shock, uncertainty continues to linger over the durability of the emerging agreement. As recent reports revealed, Iran’s President has rejected negotiations over the country’s ballistic missile program, while Tehran and Washington continue to dispute claims regarding nuclear inspections.

CFTC sues Kentucky after state’s prediction market lawsuits

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has sued Kentucky, now the ninth state the regulator is battling in its fight over prediction markets.The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission filed a lawsuit against Kentucky on Tuesday after the state sued prediction market operators last week, accusing them of operating unlicensed and illegal gambling platforms.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court, seeks to block Kentucky’s legal action against five prediction markets filed on Wednesday last week, calling for declaratory and injunctive relief. It names Kentucky Governor Andrew Beshear, Attorney General Russell Coleman and the Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Corporation, among others.

“Kentucky is the latest state attempting to shut down federally-regulated event contracts,” CFTC Chair Mike Selig said in a statement. “As I’ve consistently pledged, the CFTC is firmly committed to maintaining its exclusive jurisdiction over prediction markets, and today’s lawsuit against Kentucky is yet another example of the Commission protecting its federal interests.”

The CFTC has been ramping up its effort to maintain authority over prediction markets since Selig was appointed as chair in December. Kentucky is now the ninth state that the CFTC has sued over state authorities taking action against prediction markets.

The on-chain analytics firm CryptoQuant recommended that Michael Saylor’s company, Strategy, temporarily halt its Bitcoin purchases to focus its efforts on rebuilding its cash reserves.

This warning arises following the detection of an increase in its dividend obligations, a setback in its liquid funds, and the accumulation of unrealized losses in its cryptocurrency holdings. The report issued this Tuesday by Julio Moreno, head of research at CryptoQuant, reveals that bear market pressure coincided with a drop in the value of the company’s STRC preferred stock, which retrograded last week to $82.50, establishing a record 17.5% discount against its $100 par value.

The impact of the accumulation strategy on Strategy’s liquidity
The data compiled by CryptoQuant indicates that the corporation recently repurchased $1.5 billion of its 0% convertible senior notes due in 2029. This action reduced the capital cushion available to support STRC stock dividends, in a context where the company’s available cash has already decreased by 38% since the beginning of 2026.

At the same time, dividend obligations rose due to the issuance of more preferred stock intended to finance previous purchases of the digital asset. According to the estimates presented by Moreno, this annualized commitment went from $300 million at the beginning of the year to nearly $1.2 billion today, multiplying fourfold in less than six months.
