Crypto markets woke up to pure chaos this Monday, and the Jared from Subway exploit, advancing UK stablecoin regulation, and Polymarket allegations are among the biggest crypto news stories dominating every feed. The hunter has become the hunted, regulators finally admitted they overreached, and one prediction market alleged for staging its own success.

Fresh developments are still landing this morning, and the biggest story rocking on-chain right now involves the infamous Jared from Subway MEV bot. After years of sandwiching traders and raking in millions, the bot got drained for $15 million over the weekend.

What’s interesting is that the attacker didn’t hack any smart contract code; it simply tricked the bot’s automated logic with fake tokens and liquidity pools that appeared to be profitable MEV opportunities. Once the approvals were granted, the funds in WETH, USDC, and USDT disappeared in a classic counter-MEV honeypot play.

Just this morning, Jared from Subway dropped an on-chain message offering a 50% white-hat bounty if the attacker returns 2,150 ETH within 48 hours. Otherwise, they threatened to pursue every legal and law enforcement remedy available.

Now, can Jared from Subway actually pursue this in court? Sandwich attacks sit in a legal gray zone because they exploit public mempool data. JustLend DAO adds U stablecoin lending market on TRONJustLend DAO has expanded its lending platform by launching support for supply and borrowing of U, a TRC-20 stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar.

According to a June 21 announcement, users can now deposit and borrow U directly on the protocol after the asset was added as a collateralizable market on June 20, 2026, Singapore time.

The launch follows a governance proposal that outlined the market’s lending parameters and interest rate structure.

The protocol said U is issued by United Stables and maintains its peg through reserves backed on a 1:1 basis. JustLend DAO described the asset as a stablecoin designed for digital commerce, machine-to-machine payments, and AI-focused financial applications on the TRON network.

U market launches with separate lending parameters
JustLend DAO said the U market opened with a collateral factor of 0% and a reserve factor of 10%. The collateral factor means users can borrow U on the platform, but cannot use U itself as collateral to obtain other loans at launch.

The protocol also introduced a jumping interest rate model for the market. Under the structure, borrowing costs rise sharply once utilization exceeds 80%.

JustLend DAO’s published parameters show borrow APY reaches 5% at 80% utilization before climbing to 42.5% at 90% utilization and 80% at full utilization.

Supply APY follows a similar trajectory, rising from 3.6% at 80% utilization to 34.43% at 90% utilization and 72% when utilization reaches 100%.

In a statement on X, JustLend DAO said the addition of U expands the range of stablecoin assets available on the platform and provides users with another source of on-chain liquidity.

Maximal Extractable Value refers to the profit that block proposers—typically validators or miners—can extract by reordering, including, or excluding transactions within a block. While MEV has become a lucrative mechanism in decentralized finance, it also raises serious concerns about fairness, censorship, and network neutrality. Aue’s remarks place this technical debate squarely within the philosophical framework that has guided Ethereum since its inception.

Aue emphasized that the Ethereum Foundation holds censorship resistance, privacy, and self-sovereignty as its core values. He explicitly stated that the foundation does not exist to maximize its appeal to short-term speculators or institutional investors. This positions the debate over MEV not merely as a technical or economic issue, but as a fundamental test of Ethereum’s original cypherpunk ethos.

The BoE recently removed a previously proposed limit that would have restricted individuals from holding more than £20,000 in stablecoins. Kulechov praised this move as a positive step toward broader adoption. However, he emphasized that a separate rule requiring stablecoin issuers to deposit 30% of their reserve assets in a non-interest-bearing central bank account remains in effect. According to Kulechov, this provision effectively functions as a tax on issuers, as those funds cannot generate returns to support operational costs.

Economic Viability at Stake

Kulechov explained that the inability to earn yield on a significant portion of reserves directly impacts the business model of stablecoin issuers. Without the ability to generate returns on 30% of backing assets, the cost of compliance and issuance rises sharply. He argued that this regulatory burden could make the UK an unattractive base for stablecoin companies, potentially pushing innovation and economic activity to regions with more accommodating policies, such as the European Union under its Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework or parts of Asia.
