Just $13 SHIB Burned in 24 Hours: What's Behind Shiba Inu Burn Rate Drop of 74%


According to Shibburn's website, just $13 worth of $SHIB was burned in the last 24 hours.

2.69 million $SHIB were burned in the past day, amounting to just $13, with the daily burn rate plunging 74%. Shiba Inu's burn rate has seen a decline since June 20, when 8,795,791 $SHIB was burned. In the last seven days, Shiba Inu's burn rate was down 19.11%, despite 37.69 million being burned in the timeframe.

This drop follows the trend seen in the past week, marked by selling across the board in the crypto market. In this light, Shiba Inu fell for six straight days, giving back its gains from its mid-June rally.

Sentiment has remained weak in the crypto market, with most cryptocurrencies staying near recently formed lows. This is reflected in the Shiba Inu burn rate, which saw a drop after an earlier rise in the past week.

Heavy selling in the last six days pushed Shiba Inu to a low of $0.00000464. Buying ensued early Monday's session, taking $SHIB to an intraday high of $0.00000472, erasing most of the past day's decline. At the time of writing, $SHIB was down 0.33% in the last 24 hours to $0.00000466 and down 6.44% weekly. The recent move leaves Shiba Inu range-bound and waiting on events it does not control.

A key test for the market this week will be the release on Thursday of May's reading on the personal consumption expenditures price index, the Fed's preferred inflation gauge. Following last week's hawkish Fed meeting, expectations of an interest rate hike moved forward to as soon as October. Investors are now expecting any inflation reading that could signal the Fed may soon begin increasing rates.

Crypto News Today: Taiko Issues Urgent Warning After Bridge Security Breach

Layer-2 blockchain project Taiko has issued an urgent security warning after confirming that its chain state verification mechanism was compromised. This puts the security of all bridges deployed on the network at risk. 

The incident has already resulted in losses of more than $1 million, according to blockchain security firm Blockaid. It has prompted Taiko to advise users to immediately withdraw funds from affected bridges.

Taiko Confirms Verification Mechanism Compromise

In an official statement posted on X, Taiko revealed that its chain state verification mechanism had been compromised. As a result, the security assumptions behind all bridges running on the network can no longer be trusted.

The team stated, “We have confirmed a compromise of Taiko’s chain state verification mechanism. As a result, the security assumptions of all bridges deployed on Taiko can no longer be relied upon.”

Taiko said it is actively working with its Security Council and ecosystem partners to contain the incident. It is also pausing affected systems where possible, and taking all necessary technical and legal measures.

While this is currently a technical pilot, not a consumer feature, it matters because it targets the hidden costs of traditional banking. Cross-border transfers through correspondent banking can take days and stack fees at each intermediary bank along the chain. By using stablecoins on Solana, Toss Bank is testing whether it can bypass those intermediaries entirely, settling value in seconds at a single transparent cost rather than several hidden ones.

In the days leading up to a pivotal Senate Banking Committee vote on the CLARITY Act, the American Bankers Association mounted an extraordinary lobbying blitz, sending more than 8,000 letters to Senate offices in less than a week. The target was not the bill as a whole, much of which the banking industry can live with, but a single provision: the rules governing whether stablecoins can pay yield to the people who hold them.

To

an outsider, it might seem strange that the banking industry would care so intensely about one technical clause in a crypto bill, or fight a piece of digital-asset legislation at all. But the fight is not really about crypto in the abstract.

It is about a direct competitive threat that yield-bearing stablecoins pose to the core business of banking, the gathering of deposits, and understanding that threat explains why banks have thrown their lobbying weight at a few sentences in a crypto bill.

Baillie Gifford, a 118-year-old investment firm based in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh, unveiled a fixed-income tokenized fund in association with global custody giant BNY, the companies said on Monday.

Baillie Gifford Enhanced Yield Fund (BAGEY) is denominated in dollars, and gives eligible investors access to an actively managed, short-duration portfolio of public corporate bonds using the Ethereum and Solana public blockchains, according to a press release.

The fund is operated through a U.K.-regulated Open-Ended Investment Company (OEIC), a type of collective investment fund structured as a limited liability company that spreads capital from multiple investors across equities or bonds.

The fund, which currently offers a yield of around 7%, will be available to eligible investors in the U.K., Switzerland and Cayman Islands, subject to applicable laws, regulations and distribution restrictions.

Tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs) has taken the traditional finance world by storm, but merely wrapping legacy infrastructure in a digital layer will not fundamentally improve finance, said Theo Golden, head of digital assets and tokenization at Baillie Gifford.

“The Baillie Gifford Enhanced Yield Fund is not a token placed on top of a fund. It is a fund issued onchain, with the blockchain serving as the register of record. Investors hold the fund directly: direct ownership, direct recourse,” Golden said in a statement.

BNY will provide tokenization and wallet infrastructure for the fund, while NatWest Trustee and Depositary Services will act as the fund’s depositary.

“Tokenisation has moved from concept to real-world application, and this launch shows how regulated fund structures can evolve to meet the needs of a more digital, connected marketplace,” said Katey Neate, global head of investor solutions at BNY.
