Ripple has struck a new partnership with Kyobo Life Insurance to explore what it says would be Korea’s first tokenized government bond settlement workflow on blockchain, extending the company’s institutional push in Asia into the country’s insurance sector.

The partnership is built around Ripple Custody, which will be used to hold, transfer, and settle tokenized government bond transactions within a regulated institutional framework. The firm said the setup is designed to replace fragmented, manual settlement processes with on-chain execution, potentially compressing the standard two-day settlement cycle into near real-time.

Ripple Signs First Tier-1 Korean Insurer for Custody Push
Kyobo, one of Korea’s largest and most established life insurers, will work with Ripple to assess both the technical and regulatory feasibility of tokenized Treasury settlement within Korea’s financial system. The custody layer sits at the center of that effort. Ripple described Ripple Custody as a bank-grade, fully integrated platform built for regulated financial institutions, supporting the secure transfer, settlement, and management of digital assets.

Notably, the announcement positions custody not as a standalone product, but as the first layer of a broader institutional stack that could later expand into tokenization, payments, liquidity, and treasury management. In other words, the bond-settlement pilot is being presented as infrastructure, not a one-off proof of concept.

Ripple also tied the partnership to a larger modernization argument around government bond markets. By settling transactions simultaneously on-chain, the companies say institutions could reduce counterparty risk and improve capital efficiency. A direct comparison between Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs reveals a modest correlation in capital flows, suggesting similar investor behavior between the two assets. In contrast, XRP and Solana ETFs have experienced relatively subdued activity, likely impacted by persistent market volatility and a prevailing risk-off sentiment among investors.

Bitcoin And Ethereum ETF Performance This Past Week
Data from SoSoValue shows that Spot Bitcoin ETFs have seen stronger inflows than outflows since the start of last week. On April 6, Bitcoin ETFs posted their largest single-day inflow since the beginning of March, with more than $471.3 million flowing into these investment products. BlackRock’s IBIT had led this massive inflow with approximately $181.9 million. This was followed by Fidelity’s FBTC, which recorded inflows of about $147.3 million.

Following this, Bitcoin ETFs saw sharp outflows for two consecutive days, with $159.05 million withdrawn on April 7 and another $125.55 million leaving the fund on April 8. The decline in flows coincided with the US-Iran ceasefire announcement, which ironically should have bolstered market sentiment and yielded more positive results. However, the outflows continued, with Fidelity’s FBTC recording the highest outflows, followed by Grayscale’s GBTC and BlackRock’s IBIT.

But Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson believes it still can't save coins belonging to the network's pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto, per a video posted to his YouTube channel late Wednesday
Hoskinson said Bitcoin's proposed defense against quantum computers is both technically mislabeled and structurally incapable of protecting the network's oldest coins, including the roughly 1 million bitcoin attributed to Satoshi Nakamoto.

He argued that BIP-361, the proposal from developer Jameson Lopp and others to phase out quantum-vulnerable bitcoin addresses, is being presented as a soft fork but would functionally require a hard fork because it invalidates existing signature schemes that users are actively relying on.

Tether Provides $150 Million in Support to Altcoin Attacked Last Week! Official Statement Released!

Drift Protocol, a Solana (SOL)-based DeFi platform that suffered a hack attack worth over $280 million in recent weeks, will create a $150 million recovery fund for victims of the cyberattack.

Stablecoin giant Tether has also lent its support to this rescue fund.

In an official statement, Tether announced a strategic partnership with Drift Protocol and its partners to support user recovery efforts and relaunch the Drift platform following the security breach on April 1st that resulted in approximately $285 million in user losses.

Accordingly, Drift Protocol (DRIFT) also announced a recovery plan for affected users in its statement. The project is establishing a Recovery Fund to which Tether will contribute up to $127.5 million and other partners will add another $20 million.

“The plan aims to prioritize users and boost Drift’s return to the market and USDT’s growth on Solana.”

The fund will also be financed through a $100 million revenue-sharing program, ecosystem grants, and market-maker loans.

Drift stated that it is collaborating with law enforcement and blockchain analytics partners to track the stolen assets and that the recovered funds will be added to the pool.

Affected users will be given a special recovery token, separate from their current governance token, which can be used to claim their rights in the recovery pool.
