Ethereum Eyes Macro Bottom As Key Level Comes Into Focus: Analys

An interesting technical outlook frames the current Ethereum price action as a range-bound environment on the higher timeframe, where patience is going to dictate the next move.

The Ethereum price action is now at a sensitive zone, and according to crypto analyst Minga, the path to a genuine cycle bottom requires one more leg down, and the levels that need to be wiped out before a macro bottom are defined.

$ETH Trading In A Multi-Year Range

Technical analysis of the weekly candlestick timeframe chart shows that Ethereum is consolidating within a broad macro range whose boundaries are defined by two extremes: the 2021 all-time high at $4,877 on the upper end and the 2022 bear market low at $878 on the lower end.

According to crypto analyst Minga, the way to trade such a range-bound market is as easy as can be: trade level to level. Interestingly, the $ETH has followed a predictable sequence while trading within this range. The price swept the 2021 all-time high, rejected a little bit above to create a new all-time high of $4,946, and has been in a downtrend since.

The most recent move saw the Ethereum price fall into an untapped monthly low around $1,750 in February, where buyers stepped in and pushed $ETH back upward. That bounce, however, lacked follow-through.

Looking ahead, Schwartz’s perspective aligns with a broader market prediction that decentralized assets will become the preferred choice for escrow and long-duration contracts. He explicitly stated that if he were to lock money in an escrow for a year, he would choose XRP or BTC over USD. A Case Built On Worst-Case Scenarios
In a report published Tuesday, BPI research fellow Jacob Langenkamp made the case that Taiwan should build a national Bitcoin reserve — not mainly as a financial play, but as protection against the possibility of a Chinese military blockade or invasion.

His argument is simple: if China cuts Taiwan off, gold cannot be moved and dollar reserves can be frozen. Bitcoin, he wrote, requires no physical transport and remains accessible regardless of what happens on the ground.

Taiwan’s central bank had already looked at the idea and walked away from it. In December, the bank concluded that Bitcoin was too volatile, too hard to store safely, and too thin in liquidity to serve as a reserve asset.

It pointed to the US dollar as the more sensible option. Langenkamp acknowledged those concerns are real — but argued they can be solved with the right institutional know-how on custody and risk management.

The report’s broader warning centers on how exposed Taiwan already is to the US dollar. At least 80% of the central bank’s reserves are held in dollar-denominated assets, and most of its trade runs through the same currency.
