Profits at China's industrial firms grew at their fastest pace in six months in March, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, adding to signs of an uneven economic recovery as policymakers brace for the impact of the Iran war. Prior to the market opening, the People's Bank of China set the midpoint rate at 6.8579 per dollar, its strongest since March 2023. The spot yuan is allowed to trade 2% on either side of the fixed midpoint each day. The yuan is up 1.0% this month against the dollar, which has given up most of its safe-haven premium, triggered by the Middle East conflict, as markets priced in optimism for a possible peace deal. A recent federal court decision has reignited debate over whether crypto developers can truly operate without fear of legal risk in the United States.
In late March, a judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by developer Michael Lewellen, who sought preemptive clarity on whether publishing a crypto-based crowdfunding tool could be considered money transmission. The court ruled there was no credible enforcement threat, effectively rejecting the request for legal certainty.
That outcome has now become a focal point for critics who argue it highlights a deeper contradiction in current U.S. policy.
On one side, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has recently adopted a more reassuring tone. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the government is no longer focused on targeting developers simply for writing software. Instead, enforcement is aimed at individuals who misuse platforms for criminal activity.
Blanche emphasized that developers who build software without knowledge of illegal third-party use should not face prosecution, marking what he described as a shift away from “regulation by prosecution.”
However, not everyone is convinced this shift provides real protection.
Peter Van Valkenburgh of Coin Center questioned the gap between rhetoric and legal certainty, asking why developers still feel exposed if the rules are supposedly clear. His concern reflects a broader industry frustration: verbal assurances from officials do not carry the same weight as binding legal standards.
The uncertainty is further shaped by past enforcement actions, including the Tornado Cash case, which continues to loom large over discussions about developer liability in decentralized systems.
In short, while U.S. officials are signaling a more developer-friendly approach, the lack of explicit legal clarity means many builders still operate in a grey zone.

In an April 25 blog post titled “The predictable failure of the QDay Prize,” Gidney, a research scientist on Google’s quantum computing team, argued that the winning submission did not meaningfully demonstrate progress toward a cryptographically relevant quantum attack. His central claim was blunt: the contest was structured around a benchmark that current quantum computers are poorly suited to measure.

Bitcoin’s Quantum Threat Debate Explodes
Project Eleven had announced the previous day that it awarded the Q-Day Prize to Giancarlo Lelli for breaking a 15-bit elliptic curve key on publicly accessible quantum hardware. The group described the result as the “largest quantum attack on elliptic curve cryptography to date” and said it represented a 512x jump from a prior 6-bit public demonstration.

For crypto markets, the framing mattered. Project Eleven explicitly linked the result to the long-term security assumptions behind Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more than $2.5 trillion in ECC-secured digital assets.

But Gidney argued that the test may have proved far less than advertised. Gidney said he was invited last year to participate in the Q-Day Prize but declined because he viewed the premise as flawed. His first objection was that Shor’s algorithm requires quantum error correction for cryptographically meaningful instances.

With $ETH trading near $2,320, Ethereum price today is sitting at a genuinely important inflection point between a stable daily structure and weakening short-term momentum.

Main scenario: Neutral on the daily chart

The daily timeframe sets the macro bias, and right now that bias is best described as neutral with a slight constructive tilt. $ETH closed at $2,320.20, above the 20-day EMA at $2,294.83 and the 50-day EMA at $2,241.80, which keeps the medium-term structure stable.

At the same time, price remains well below the 200-day EMA at $2,630.53, so the market is still trading under a major long-term trend barrier. That is not a clean bull trend. Instead, it is a recovery attempt inside a broader damaged structure.

The message from the daily chart is straightforward. $ETH has room to stay bid as long as it keeps defending the short- and medium-term trend base. However, upside conviction will remain limited until the market starts reclaiming higher resistance zones rather than stalling beneath them.

Daily structure: trend intact, but not decisive

On the daily timeframe, the EMA structure is mixed in a meaningful way. Price is above the 20-day and 50-day EMA, which supports the idea that recent pullbacks are still corrective rather than outright trend failure. However, $ETH remains below the 200-day EMA, which shows the larger trend has not fully repaired.

In plain terms, the market has improved, but it has not escaped the gravitational pull of the broader downtrend. Moreover, the RSI on the daily chart is 53.93. That is neither overheated nor weak.

It sits in the middle ground, which usually fits a market that is trying to build a base rather than explode in either direction. That tells you buyers still have some breathing room, but there is no momentum excess forcing a breako
