In a detailed post published April 2, 2026, Buterin described building his own “paranoid” local-first large language model setup to counter the mainstream AI industry’s lax approach to data leaks, jailbreaks, backdoors, and unauthorized data exfiltration.

The Ethereum co-founder highlighted real-world attack vectors, such as agents being compromised simply by visiting a malicious webpage or through hidden instructions in third-party plugins that quietly send user data to external servers. Buterin argues that the core problem is that most current AI frameworks prioritize capability over security, often allowing agents to rewrite prompts, open new channels, or execute code with little oversight.

Buterin’s solution starts with keeping everything local, running inference on personal hardware, sandboxing tools with bubblewrap, and using NixOS for reproducibility. Human confirmation is required for sensitive actions.

For cases where local models fall short, such as complex cryptographic tasks, Buterin proposes hybrid approaches using zero-knowledge proofs for verifiable remote calls, mixnets for anonymity, trusted execution environments, and input sanitization by the local model before any remote interaction.

$ALGO has witnessed an aggressive bullish run over the last four days. The token has maintained its strong momentum with a 17% increase over the last 24 hours.

Despite the ongoing rally, a nearby supply zone could slow things down. At the time of writing, $ALGO was testing a critical supply zone around $0.1133. This zone represents a pocket of potential selling pressure where previous moves may have stalled.

A break past the supply zone will see the token prices rally to test the next resistance level at around $0.15. The likelihood of the breakout coming into play is close to certain, more so given the current aggressive push from the token's bulls.

An on-chain report by ZachXBT has raised questions over how effectively Circle enforces its compliance controls. The investigator cited more than $420m in alleged lapses tied to illicit fund flows since 2022.

The findings, shared on 3 April, compile multiple incidents where USDC linked to hacks or illicit activity was not frozen or was frozen only after significant delays.

Regulators have not independently verified the claims, and Circle has not publicly responded to the report at the time of writing.

Drift exploit puts spotlight on response times
The report points to the recent $280m exploit of Drift Protocol as a key example. According to ZachXBT, the attacker bridged more than $232m in USDC from Solana to Ethereum over several hours using Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol [CCTP].

Despite the scale and duration of the activity, no USDC was frozen during the window, the report claims. The attacker has reportedly been linked to North Korean actors by blockchain analytics firm Elliptic.

However, this attribution has not been confirmed by authorities.

Pattern of delayed or absent freezes
Beyond the Drift incident, the report highlights several historical cases involving major exploits:

The $223m Cetus Protocol exploit in 2025, where USDC was frozen weeks after initial requests
The $110m Mango Markets exploit in 2022, where funds were allegedly not frozen despite known links to the attacker
The $190m Nomad Bridge hack, where USDC remained in exploiter wallets during early stages of the incident
In multiple instances, the report claims that other stablecoin issuers, including Tether, acted more quickly to freeze funds linked to the same addresses.

Compliance tools exist — but enforcement questioned
Circle markets USDC as a regulated stablecoin with built-in compliance features, including the ability to freeze or blacklist addresses linked to illicit activity.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong is once again in the news, promoting the integration of AI agents with wallets. The top executive of the world’s second-largest crypto exchange has been a vocal supporter of the future role of these agentic AI programs. He stated that his company is collaborating with other organizations under the Linux Foundation to develop a new payment layer for these automated programs.
Based on this latest post, Armstrong is reinforcing his previous narrative that AI agents are the future and will conduct more online transactions than humans, fundamentally reshaping commerce entirely. 

However, a dedicated payment layer for bots is currently missing, and that is where the X402 Foundation comes in. 

The x402 Foundation is a new collaborative effort under the Linux Foundation. It includes several notable firms like Coinbase, Cloudflare, and Stripe. According to the Coinbase CEO, groundbreaking commerce/business opportunities will arise when AI agents can transact freely, and there is infrastructure to support these interactions.

The x402 Foundation draws on the long-dormant HTTP protocol 402, aka “Payment Required,” and aims to convert it into an effective tool for a large number of AI transactions. AI agents can engage with a server through this 402 call and make micropayments, possibly in the form of stablecoins. There is no human involvement in this regime, allowing seamless machine-to-machine interactions based on digital currency.

Coinbase is betting heavily on AI protocols to leverage the digital currency revolution, especially for countless mundane tasks online. It believes x402 is the right platform to help scale this initiative and build a bridge between AI and crypto to help serve the masses.

Telegram taps Lighter for 50x perps trading across crypto, stocks, and commodities: Details 

Lighter, a DEX focused on perpetual (perps) trading, has been tapped to power Telegram’s native leveraged trading.

In a statement on the 2nd of April, Wallet in Telegram said that users on the privacy-focused messenger can now trade crypto, stocks, metals, and oil with up to 50x leverage. 

The wallet has seen strong adoption with over 150 million registered users.



About 25 million of these users are considered active, especially in P2P transfers and fiat on-ramps, making Telegram a key crypto trading terminal. The messenger itself has over 1 billion users. 

As such, the integration of Lighter could boost trading volumes on the DEX too. As it stands, this is the primary and largest Lighter integration to date. 

For comparison, its rival Hyperliquid runs perps trading for Phantom, Rabby, MetaMask, and others. This fueled Hyperliquid’s initial adoption by sharing fees from trades routed by the apps.
