Decentralized Shift in AI Access

Antseed, on May 15, launched a decentralized marketplace that connects artificial intelligence (AI) consumers directly with model providers, removing the centralized intermediaries that dominate today’s AI access ecosystem.

The platform offers an alternative to AI aggregators such as Openrouter, which list models, route all traffic through their own servers, and hold provider earnings until payout. AntSeed instead allows buyers to discover providers directly, send requests peer‑to‑peer, and settle payments instantly in $USDC to a provider’s wallet.
According to a media statement, the network requires no accounts, no API keys, and has no approval process or central point of control.
“OpenRouter and similar aggregators helped define the market for unified AI access, but that market does not need to remain centralized,” said Shahaf Antwarg, Antseed’s co‑founder. “AntSeed gives AI consumers and providers a direct, peer‑to‑peer alternative where access, reputation, and payments are coordinated by the network rather than a single platform.”

Bhutan, a small Asian country nestled in the Himalayas and the second nation after El Salvador to officially mine and hold bitcoin, has reportedly been selling its stash.

In fact, according to data analytics firm Arkham Intelligence's data, the country might have sold $1 billion worth of bitcoin since July 2025.

Wallets attributed to Druk Holding and Investments (DHI), the kingdom of Bhutan’s sovereign wealth fund, have moved approximately $207 million in bitcoin out this year alone to various exchanges and trading firms, per Arkham's data.

Holdings in the Arkham-tagged wallets have dropped from roughly 13,000 $BTC in October 2024 to around 3,100 $BTC on Friday, worth $252 million as of Friday evening India time. The outflows have accelerated through 2026 to the point that Arkham estimates Bhutan will have sold all its remaining bitcoin by October if the current pace holds.But officials from the country's investment unit say they have not sold any bitcoin.

"I don't recall the last time we sold any $BTC," DHI CEO Ujjwal Deep Dahal told CoinDesk via email. A separate reply from the division, when asked specifically about wallet movements tracked by Arkham, said only that "our statement stands and nothing to add beyond it."

DHI did not address the specific wallet movements, did not dispute Arkham's attribution of those wallets and did not confirm the amount of bitcoin Bhutan currently holds. It did not confirm or deny whether the kingdom still holds approximately 13,000 $BTC (if the sales hadn’t taken place).

A Quarter Of Two Stories

The Tokyo-listed firm posted an ordinary loss of around $728 million for the three months ending March 31, driven by non-cash valuation markdowns on its Bitcoin holdings after the price of BTC dropped about 24% during the quarter — from roughly $87,000 on January 1 to around $66,000 by quarter’s end.

The loss widened sharply from the same period a year earlier, with the basic loss per share coming in at around $0.63, compared to roughly $0.078 12 months prior.

The bottom-line hit stood in contrast to the company’s operating results. Metaplanet reported Q1 operating income of 2.27 billion Japanese yen, or about $14.38 million, on net sales of roughly $19.5 million.

That works out to an operating margin of 73.6%. Revenue more than tripled year over year, up from about $5.5 million in the same quarter of 2025, with most of that growth coming from its Bitcoin Income Generation unit, which books option premiums and derivative valuation gains. Hotel operations contributed a smaller, steadier slice of revenue.

Borrowing To Buy More Bitcoin

To fund its Bitcoin purchases, Metaplanet drew further on a $500 million Bitcoin-collateralized credit facility. As of May 13, the company had $302 million outstanding under that arrangement.

The crypto AI sector saw a slight decline in total market capitalization. From $22.61 billion on the 9th of May, the market cap of the sector has shrunk slightly to $21.01 billion, though it was up 21% over the past month.

The top six tokens by market cap in the sector showed mixed performance over the past week, but Internet Computer [ICP] was the weakest among them. It was down 5.35% in 24 hours and 8.7% in a week.

The recent losses could be because Coinbase delisted ICP/USDT, a non-USD pair. It should be noted that the exchange has not halted all ICP-related services.

The US 10-year Treasury yield surged to 4.54% on May 15, its highest point since May 2025, after hotter than expected CPI and PPI data stoked fears of a Federal Reserve rate hike. The 30-year yield crossed 5% while the 2-year broke above 4%.
Inflation and yields hit crypto and equities
Bitcoin fell as low as $78,600, down roughly 4% from Thursday’s $82,000 high, before stabilising slightly above $79,000. The selloff spread to equities, with the Nasdaq 100 opening 1.7% lower and the S&P 500 falling 1.2%.

“The 10Y Note Yield is now above 4.50% for the first time since June 2025,” the Kobeissi Letter noted on X. “Rate hikes are now the base case for the Fed’s expected next move.”

Crypto-linked equities were hit harder. Coinbase dropped nearly 6%, Circle fell 7.4% and Strategy slid 5.4%. Bitcoin miners MARA Holdings and Hut 8 each lost around 7%, while Cipher Mining fell nearly 9%.

CME FedWatch showed more than 44% probability of a Fed rate hike by December, a sharp reversal from expectations of multiple rate cuts at the start of 2026. Gold fell 2.5% while oil rose 3%, crossing $100 per barrel as energy inflation compounded yield pressure.
April CPI came in at 3.8% while PPI matched 2022 levels at 6%, according to official data. Futures traders who began 2026 pricing two or more Fed cuts now expect rates to stay elevated through at least the first half of 2027.
Bitcoin remains below its 200-day moving average heading into the weekend, caught between a regulatory tailwind from the Clarity Act’s Senate progress and a macro headwind from rising yields and accelerating inflation.
