VanEck and Grayscale filed new amendments for their proposed spot BNB exchange-traded funds, adding fresh attention to the race for the next U.S. altcoin ETF.  Summary VanEck and Grayscale filed new BNB ETF amendments as altcoin ETF competition moves faster. Both BNB ETF proposals plan direct token exposure but keep staking out at launch. Canary’s TRX filing takes a different route by placing staking inside the fund structure. The filings came as asset managers continue to test how far the SEC may move beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum products. VanEck filed Amendment No. 5 for the VanEck BNB ETF on May 15. The fund is expected to list on Nasdaq under the ticker VBNB, subject to approval. Its filing says the trust would hold BNB directly and trade under Nasdaq’s commodity-based trust share rules. The Grayscale BNB ETF was formed as a Delaware statutory trust on Jan. 8, 2026, and its stated purpose is to hold BNB tied to the BNB Smart Chain. The filing says the trust would seek to reflect the value of BNB held by the fund, less expenses and liabilities. It also includes conditional language around staking, but that does not mean staking will be active at launch. That part remains tied to regulatory and operational conditions. In addition, the BNB filings show caution around staking. Both proposals focus on direct BNB exposure, while keeping staking outside the main launch plan. That approach reflects ongoing questions around how staking rewards fit inside regulated U.S. ETF products. Canary Capital is taking a different path with its Canary Staked TRX ETF. Circle’s USDC terms state that once a transaction has been initiated, it cannot be reversed, except as set out in the terms. The company also says USDC transactions are generally nonrefundable. 

The same terms warn that sending USDC to a wallet or address that does not support USDC can lead to permanent loss. Circle also says it bears no responsibility for losses from sending USDC to unsupported addresses.

Circle still has address control tools in some cases. Its terms say the company may block certain USDC addresses and freeze related USDC if it links the address to illegal activity or a breach of its rules. Circle also says USDC follows its blocklisting policy.

Solana stablecoin supply near $16B ATH: Early Q2 rally signal?Over the years, the reasons for institutional investors staking digital assets have changed.

A few years ago, investors viewed digital assets mainly as speculative instruments. This led smart money to avoid them due to their high volatility.

However, blockchain use cases have expanded from tokenization and cross-border payments to staking. As a result, institutions have started accumulating utility-driven assets, with Solana standing out due to its fast and low-cost network.

More importantly, its stablecoin flows have strengthened. According to DeFiLlama, the total stablecoin supply on the network has jumped over 6% this week alone.

However, the key takeaway is that while USDT and USDC remain in the red, newer stablecoins are driving most of the inflows on Solana.Take Ethena’s $USDe stablecoin, for example.

Data from DeFiLlama shows $USDe is up over 1,300% on Solana [$SOL] over the past month. This reflects rapid adoption of yield-bearing and synthetic dollar assets within the ecosystem.

Additionally, $USDe trading volume has doubled to around $300 million overnight, indicating increased liquidity rotation into newer stablecoin instruments rather than legacy issuers.

From an on-chain perspective, this shift gives Solana an advantage in attracting institutional capital. However, its Total Value Locked (TVL) has dropped below $6 billion, returning to levels last seen in October 2024.

This suggests that while stablecoin activity is growing, users are holding less capital within DeFi protocols and rotating liquidity more frequently instead of keeping it locked.

This raises a key question: Are institutions currently more focused on price action than DeFi fundamentals, and could this setup increase the risk of a Q2 correction?
