Coinbase shares slide on $400M Q1 loss, revenue miss



Coinbase shares slid Thursday after the US crypto exchange reported a steep first-quarter loss while revenue missed Wall Street expectations.

Coinbase reported a net loss of $394.1 million in Q1, its second consecutive quarterly loss after reporting a $667 million loss in Q4 2025. It swung from a $65.6 million profit a year earlier.

“Macro conditions were genuinely tough,” Coinbase chief financial officer Alesia Haas told investors on an earnings call. “Total crypto market cap and total crypto trading volume were both down more than 20% quarter-over-quarter.”

Coinbase’s earnings come as other crypto companies have also struggled to turn a profit in the first months of 2026 as a crypto market slump pushed some traders to other investments.

IREN revenue falls 22% to $145 million as bitcoin miner leans harder into AI
The drop was $39.9 million, tied to a lower average Bitcoin price and the removal of older mining machines before new GPU systems began generating full customer billing.

The bottom line was uglier. IREN reported a net loss of $247.8 million, compared with a $155.4 million loss in Q2 FY26. Adjusted EBITDA fell to $59.5 million from $75.3 million. Costs also came down by $25.9 million, mainly because reduced mining activity lowered power use.

The quarter carried $140.4 million in non-cash impairments, mostly from retired mining hardware, and $23.7 million in unrealized losses tied to capped calls linked to convertible notes.

Block Inc rises 8% as Q1 gives ‘earnings surprise’ despite Bitcoin dipJack Dorsey’s payments firm Block rose 7.9% in after-hours trading as its Q1 earnings surpassed analyst estimates, despite posting its first loss in three years.

Block’s Q1 earnings came in at 85 cents per share, beating the Zacks consensus estimate of 68 cents per share. Investors responded positively, driving Block shares to $75.70 after hours, Google Finance data shows.

“This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of +25.68%,” said Zacks Equity Research on Thursday. “Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times.”

Expanding Bitcoin’s use into the payments space has been a key area of focus for Dorsey, who previously argued that widespread payment adoption is needed to fulfill Satoshi Nakamoto’s original vision of Bitcoin as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system. In late April, Block noted that over 800,000 US-based merchants have enabled Bitcoin transactions for everyday purchases.

IREN revenue falls 22% to $145 million as bitcoin miner leans harder into AIIREN Limited (NASDAQ: IREN) has announced revenue fell to $144.8 million in the quarter ended March 31, 2026, down from $184.7 million in the prior quarter, as weaker Bitcoin economics collided with its ongoing buildout of AI Cloud capacity.

IREN replaces old mining hardware with Blackwell GPUs under a new NVIDIA deal
IREN signed a five-year, $3.4 billion AI Cloud contract with NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) covering air-cooled Blackwell GPUs. The company plans to place that hardware inside 60MW of existing data center space at Childress, with customer ramp-up expected from early 2027.

Daniel Roberts, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of IREN, said, “The world is structurally short compute, and the bottleneck is delivered data center and GPU capacity.” After that, Daniel said the quarter included work across power, land, data center construction, and large-scale compute delivery.

The company also entered a wider 5GW partnership with NVIDIA. That agreement covers data center designs and infrastructure built around NVIDIA systems across IREN’s global power base.

What Each Side Brings to the Table

MarsCat is a distributed connection network and a decentralized Web3 application engine that allows decentralized applications to function in a privacy-first, serverless manner with no dependency on centralized servers. This ensures secure communication, using decentralized peer to peer networks to eliminate the need for a central data relay/notification and therefore allow peers to communicate directly with each other.

The use of encryption and temporary data storage through RelayX will improve the reliability of communication. The RelayX project is backed by an investment of $3 million from Animoca Brands, Cogitent Ventures and Cryptogram Venture (CGV), giving it both financial legitimacy and a solid institutional network to grow.

MAGNE.AI has shifted to the hardware solution side to solve similar issues that other firms are working on with software. The US-based technology firm is focused on integrating hardware-level encryption security technologies, on-device AI and Web3-based protocols to provide mobile-centric digital identity, asset protection and secure decentralized engagement.
