On May 10, Strategy President and Chief Executive Officer Phong Le addressed the question many investors and observers ask about the company: why is Strategy valuable beyond the bitcoin on its balance sheet? His answer, posted on social media platform X, focused on the operating structure around the $BTC strategy. Le pointed to enterprise scale, public-company discipline, long-tenured teams, compliance systems, and a business model built over decades.

That value case includes a software business that helps fund bitcoin operating expenses. In the first quarter of 2026, the unit posted its strongest financial quarter in a decade. Revenue grew 12%, cloud revenue rose 59%, and controllable margin increased 27%. Strategy also serves more than 3,000 customers, over 500,000 active users, and nearly half of the Fortune 500. Its workforce spans 1,500 employees and more than 25 countries. Le stated:

“Strategy’s success is rooted in more than bitcoin on our balance sheet. It is built on a scaled enterprise software company with a rich history of invention, institutional discipline, and global scale.”

That distinction is central to Strategy’s valuation argument.

Canton Network builder nears $300M raise led by a16z crypto
Digital Asset Holdings is reportedly raising about $300 million at a valuation near $2 billion, according to Bloomberg.

The round is said to be led by Andreessen Horowitz’s crypto arm, a16z crypto, and could close in the coming weeks.

The company is known for developing Canton Network, a blockchain built for financial institutions. Bloomberg cited people familiar with the matter, while Digital Asset and a16z crypto did not comment on the report.

Canton Network draws institutional attention

Canton Network is designed for tokenized assets, payments, and settlement activity where privacy is required. Its model allows institutions to share selected transaction data while keeping sensitive details private.

That privacy focus has helped Canton attract major financial names. Visa joined Canton Network as a Super Validator in March 2026 and added Canton to its stablecoin settlement pilot in April.

Additionally, the reported round would follow Digital Asset’s $135 million raise in June 2025. That funding was backed by DRW Venture Capital, Tradeweb Markets, Goldman Sachs, Citadel Securities, DTCC, and other financial firms.

Digital Asset also raised $50 million in December 2025 from investors including BNY Mellon, Nasdaq, S&P Global, and iCapital, according to prior reports. The new round would mark a larger vote of confidence in Canton’s role in institutional blockchain infrastructure.

DTCC and tokenized assets add context

The funding talks come as DTCC prepares to test tokenized securities activity. As previously reported, DTCC has said it plans to pilot tokenized versions of some assets it custodies, with testing expected in July and a wider launch targeted for October.

The Iranian internet blockade, which was established as a security measure hours after the U.S.-Israel coalition attacked the Iranian regime on February 28, has hit its 72nd day. The blockade, which has reduced the country’s internet connection to 1%, has also resulted in billions of dollars in losses for the Iranian economy.

Netblocks, an internet observatory that has been monitoring Iran’s blockade since day one, described this measure as unprecedented, stressing that there was “no indication of a wider restoration while authorities bar the general public from international access.”

Nonetheless, the measure has given rise to a new two-tiered system for accessing the internet, with some supporters receiving unfiltered access to international sites. The Iranian general population, meanwhile, remains relegated to a small subset of the internet.

The system, called Internet Pro, has exorbitant prices that leave most Iranians out of its reach, relegating them to virtual private networks (VPNs) and other, more dangerous methods as alternatives. Starlink is also present, but there have been reports of a death tied to the arrest of a citizen due to its use.
Nonetheless, not all agree with this outcome. Communications Minister Sattar Hashemi has expressed opposition to the Internet Pro system, declaring that “tiered internet or a ‘whitelist’ system has no validity,” and that Internet Pro has been misused. South Korea’s joint investigation team has confirmed what many suspected: the fire aboard the HMM Namu on May 4 was caused by external strikes, not an accident. Two unidentified aerial objects hit the cargo vessel as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, damaging a 7-by-5-meter section of the hull and igniting a blaze that, mercifully, caused no casualties.

The HMM Namu, operated by South Korea’s largest container shipping line, was struck while passing through the narrow waterway separating Iran from the Arabian Peninsula.
