Ethereum has moved higher with the broader crypto market this week, but its rebound is now facing a technical test that may decide whether the move has real strength or only a reflection of Bitcoin’s momentum.

A recent technical outlook points to a shortfall on the ETH daily candlestick chart, as the price continues to stall below the upper end of its rising channel despite repeated attempts to extend the rally.

Ethereum’s Rally Is Showing A Shortfall
Technical analysis of the Ethereum daily candlestick timeframe chart shows that Ethereum has been trading inside a rising channel since February 2026. This is a structure that, in theory, should allow bulls to progressively push the price toward its upper boundary.

The structure has produced a sequence of higher lows, which is usually a good sign. However, the problem is that ETH has not matched that strength on the upper side of the pattern, at least in May.

According to a crypto analyst that goes by the name Ardi on the social media platform X, the channel’s upper boundary currently is around $2,520, but ETH’s recent advances have repeatedly stalled around $2,420. That leaves the price about 6% below the channel high, creating a shortfall.

The daily structure is also not fully bullish. While ETH has reclaimed its short- and medium-term moving averages, the 200-day EMA is still above the current price, meaning the recovery is still incomplete.

The concern becomes more serious because Bitcoin has already achieved what Ethereum has not. The Bitcoin price has reached the upper side of its own channel structure to create a higher high around $81,000, meaning Bitcoin has been leading the market rally more cleanly.

The quarterly figure is eye-catching on its own, but zoom out and the picture gets even more dramatic. Amazon’s trailing twelve-month capex now sits at $147.3 billion, a 67% jump from $88 billion over the prior twelve-month period.

Operating cash flow tells a healthier story, rising 30% to $148.5 billion on a trailing twelve-month basis. Free cash flow, the money left after all that spending, cratered to just $1.2 billion. The latest call centers on the speed of Strategy’s buying, not merely the size of its balance sheet. JPMorgan analysts led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou said the company “appears to have accelerated its Bitcoin purchases again in April,” extending what they described as an opportunity-driven pattern this year.

Crypto conference season was noisy last year. The booths were full, the panels were stacked with premier speakers, and the side events and parties ran late. Social feeds made it look like the entire digital asset market took over conference halls and parts of major cities. So we asked the obvious question: did any of that noise actually make it into the traffic charts? To check, our latest Outset Data Pulse analysis tracked monthly visits across 274 crypto and Web3 media outlets in Asia and the United States from January 2025 through March
2026. How the conference effect was measured This report was not a basic surface-level comparison of total traffic during event months. Rather, every website was measured against its own normal pattern, not the rest of the market, because it doesn't make sense for a small regional outlet to compare against a large global publisher. At the same time, a 10% move at one outlet may be normal, but a 10% move at another would be highly unusual. That's why we used the z-score approach: each outlet's traffic was converted into a z-score, which shows how meaningfully different a given month was for that specific outlet. A score near zero means the month was normal, while a higher score means the month stood out from the outlet's own baseline. The charts comparing conference months with non-conference months make
the contradiction easier to understand.
