A South Korean payment firm has teamed up with Avalanche to create a crypto-like Layer‐1 blockchain tailored specifically for payments.

A Crypto-Spin For TradFi In South Korea

TradFi continues its race to not be left behind DeFi innovation. This time, however, a traditional payments giant most recent move is not aimed at just integrating with crypto, but it’s actually spinning up its own chain intended at real‐world payments.

According to The Block, NHN KCP, one of South Korea’s biggest payment processors, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Avalanche developer Ava Labs to build its own payments‐focused Layer 1.

Avalanche is a high‐performance Layer 1 blockchain platform designed for smart contracts and custom blockchains, with near‐instant transaction finality and low fees.

The planned L1 will be built via Ava Cloud and optimized for real‐world payments: sub‐second payment authorization, on‐chain transaction data encryption, and customizable merchant payment infrastructure. NHN KCP and Ava Labs want to plug in tokenized deposits, multi‐stablecoin settlement, and cross‐border payments on top of that base layer.

Jun-seok Park, CEO of NHN KCP, said in a statement:

This agreement is highly significant as it combines NHN KCP’s industry-leading payment operational expertise with world-class blockchain technology to derive an innovative model that can be immediately applied to real-world business.

The pair intend to test whether the project is technically viable via a proof‐of‐concept, and to broaden their ties with financial and payment firms worldwide.

Ripple price does not show any change over the last 24 hours, currently hovering near $1.3280. Despite a 4.8% monthly slide and a staggering 63% drop from its 2025 local top, the social data suggests that the “bottoming process” may be entering its final, most painful stage, which is usually a sign of a sharp bullish move.

The institutional interest remains quietly focused on the long-term utility of cross-border payment rails, while retailers are moving away in an attempt to preserve their capital. Ripple is one of the tokens affected by the aforementioned issue.

Sentiment Divergence: Why High FUD is a Bullish Signal

According to market intelligence firm Santiment, social sentiment for the fourth-ranked cryptocurrency overall has reached its third-highest level of bearishness in the last two years. The social sentiment metric is a powerful contrarian indicator; when retail sentiment is this crushed, it often signals “sell-side exhaustion.”

Essentially, the crowd has already “priced in” the worst-case scenarios, leaving very few sellers left to push the price lower. However, not all analysts agree with this view.
Rising Optimism Could Be a Warning Sign
Crypto analyst Max, writing on X, argues that the return of bullish sentiment may actually indicate that Bitcoin has not yet reached a true market bottom.
According to his analysis, history shows that when optimism begins to slowly return after deep corrections, markets often still have further downside ahead. In his view, premature confidence has repeatedly appeared during mid-cycle recoveries rather than at final bottoms.
Key Bottom Signals Still Missing
Max highlights that several important technical conditions associated with past Bitcoin cycle lows have not yet appeared, including:
Full capitulation events
Multiple retests and breakdowns of recent lows
A confirmed structural trend reversal on the weekly timeframe
Without these signals, he argues, it is difficult to confirm that a durable bottom has been established.
Historical Cycle Patterns Suggest Longer Correction
Looking at previous Bitcoin cycles, bear market phases have consistently lasted around one year following major cycle peaks:
2013 peak → ~427 days of decline
2018 peak → ~365 days of decline
2021 peak → ~365 days of decline
While each cycle has shown diminishing drawdowns over time, the duration of corrections has remained relatively consistent.
Based on this historical structure, Max suggests that the current cycle—starting from the October 2025 peak—may still be following a similar timeline.
