Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire has ruled out issuing a Korean won‑pegged stablecoin for now, even as he pushes to deepen Circle’s presence in South Korea and backs the idea of a locally led KRW token as “essential” for the country’s competitiveness. Speaking at a press conference in Seoul and in comments reported by DL News and local outlets, Allaire said he does not “believe Circle would issue a Korean won stablecoin,” but stressed that the company is closely watching pending legislation and is ready to expand “within the local compliance framework” if the rules open the door to global firms. Allaire’s stance reflects a strategic split between issuance and infrastructure. He has argued that a won‑denominated stablecoin is needed and should be linked with Circle’s dollar‑backed USDC, but insists that the actual KRW token will likely come from a consortium of Korean banks, fintechs and digital‑asset companies rather than Circle itself. “We may find ways to partner with Korean won issuers, and to be supportive of these emerging consortiums as they look to build Korean digital currencies,” he said, positioning Circle as a technology provider rather than a direct competitor to domestic issuers. Given that Solana (SOL) is witnessing a wedge-within-a-wedge setup, price volatility might be taking a back seat as buyers and sellers converge.

According to market analyst GainMuse, this technical pattern is quite powerful since it illustrates heightened compression across multiple timeframes, which usually precedes a decisive move.

Well, the key support zone between $78-$80 is at the epicenter, as it has emerged as the line in the sand, with buyers repeatedly defending it whenever the price weakens.

On the other hand, the $102 to $104 zone has materialized as a macro resistance band that warrants close attention, as it has historically served as the ceiling during price expansion phases. 

Presently, SOL is trading at $87, indicating that the 7th-largest cryptocurrency is roughly mid-range between its upside target and immediate support, suggesting a state of equilibrium between sellers and buyers.

SEC charges Donald Basile in $16M crypto fraud tied to 'insured' token

The US Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a lawsuit against crypto executive Donald Basile, accusing him and two companies he controlled of raising about $16 million from investors through false claims tied to a so-called "insured" crypto token known as Bitcoin Latinum.

In a complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the SEC alleged that Basile ran the scheme between March and December 2021 through Monsoon Blockchain Corp. and GIBF GP Inc., offering investors Simple Agreements for Future Tokens (SAFTs) that promised future delivery of the token, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.

Regulators said hundreds of investors were told the asset was backed and insured, but the SEC alleged no insurance company ever provided coverage or any proof that these claims were true, per the report.

PayPal’s stablecoin, PayPal USD (PYUSD), has reached a market capitalization of $4.11 billion, marking one of the fastest growth phases in the stablecoin space. The token has expanded rapidly since mid-2025, rising from around $500 million to over $4 billion. 

In contrast, Ripple’s RLUSD, which once touched nearly $1.6 billion, has recently pulled back to around $1.42 billion.

PYUSD Growth Driven by Real Usage, Not Hype
PYUSD’s rise is not just about market cycles, it is driven by actual usage.

PayPal has expanded the stablecoin across 13 blockchain networks in 2025, including Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, and Stellar. This multi-chain approach allows users to move funds easily across networks, making PYUSD more accessible for both payments and DeFi.

A key push came through a LayerZero integration, which allowed PYUSD to move freely across nine additional chains. 

On Solana alone, PYUSD became the second-largest stablecoin on the Kamino lending platform, with over $500 million in deposits. This shows strong demand beyond simple trading.

Even recently, Coinpedia news reported that YouTube announced that eligible U.S. creators can get paid directly in PayPal’s PYUSD stablecoin.

A short-selling campaign targeting Wall Street's "tax avoidance business" is now aimed at a multi-billion dollar asset management giant.

According to a recent letter to investors obtained by Bloomberg, short-selling firm Orso Partners has established a short position in Affiliated Managers Group (AMG). AMG is an investment firm managing $813 billion, and its holdings include AQR Capital Management, founded by Cliff Asness.

Orso's logic is straightforward: AQR's core growth engine in recent years-its tax optimization strategy-is facing a direct threat from tightening regulations. Once regulations are implemented, AMG's profits will be the first to be affected.

Following the report, AMG's stock price fell as much as 1.7% to $294.28 that day, completely erasing its earlier 2.9% intraday gain.

How large is this "tax avoidance business"?

The continuous rise in US stocks over the past few years has allowed wealthy investors to accumulate substantial taxable gains. Wall Street subsequently saw the emergence of products called "tax-aware long-short strategies," specifically designed to help high-net-worth clients legally reduce their tax burden.
