$110K Spring Airdrop Rain—18 Days Straight!

XRP’s waning price performance seems to have finally influenced the network’s activity, which has seen a notable cooldown in the month of May. Just a few days into May, the network is struggling to attract new wallet addresses. After over a year, new addresses have fallen to one of their lowest levels.

New XRP Addresses Drop Dramatically
The XRP network’s activity and its price are starting to move toward the same negative direction. While the recent momentum in price is slowly fading away, user growth across the network appears to have sharply cooled down.

The slowdown is a result of a significant drop in the number of new wallet addresses created on the network. According to the chart from Glassnode, a popular research and on-chain data analytics platform, the metric has fallen from its peak in late 2024. Currently, the tide of new user onboarding and involvement that formerly drove network growth has slowed in recent months.

Glassnode announced that new wallet addresses on the XRP network have collapsed from 18,000 XRP in a single day in December to about 2,700 XRP per day as of yesterday. This drop from the 2024 high to today’s levels represents a more than 85% decrease after over a year.

In the ever-evolving crypto market, new addresses are often linked to retail investors. Therefore, the declining new addresses’ activity points to a sign of weakening retail involvement, particularly during times of increased speculation and market excitement.

Amid this fading, new wallet addresses created on the XRP network, its monthly active supply is telling a different story. As reported by Glassnode, the monthly active supply is exhibiting bearish activity, dropping from 7.4 billion XRP per day to around 2 billion per day over the same period.

The price of Ethereum and Bitcoin is currently down as selling pressure increases. However, a crypto analyst on X believes that Ethereum’s price could soon go parabolic once it breaks out of a critical multi-year triangle pattern that has been developing since 2017. 

The analyst described this pattern as a “Golden Triangle,” noting that once ETH breaks above the upper trendline of the formation, its price could rise sharply above $8,500 before pulling back and targeting much higher levels around $12,000 and possibly $48,000. Notably, this represents a rather ambitious forecast, given that Ethereum is currently trading near just $2,200.

Meanwhile, Ted Pillows, a well-known crypto expert, offers a more cautious, modest outlook on Ethereum. He noted that Ethereum has failed to hold onto the $2,400 level for the second time, and as a result, its price could continue to underperform the market. He attributed this bearishness to weakness in spot demand for the cryptocurrency.

However, Pillows predicts that if Ethereum can rise again and break above $2,400, that momentum could push the cryptocurrency toward $2,500 to $2,600. If it exceeds this level as well, the analyst projects a stronger run toward $3,200 to $3,900.

Ondo Finance just made one of the more consequential regulatory plays in crypto’s push toward traditional finance. The real-world asset tokenization firm submitted a no-action letter to the SEC on April 13, asking the agency to confirm that its Ondo Global Markets product can operate on Ethereum Mainnet without triggering enforcement action.

If the SEC grants the request, it would effectively greenlight a public blockchain as infrastructure for tokenized exposure to over 200 US-listed stocks and ETFs.

A no-action letter is the SEC’s way of saying “we see what you’re doing, and we won’t come after you for it.” It’s not formal approval, but in regulatory terms, it’s the next best thing. Companies use them to get clarity on novel structures that don’t fit neatly into existing rules.

Ondo’s specific request centers on its OGM product, which offers tokenized notes representing exposure to US equities and exchange-traded funds. The key detail: the underlying securities themselves stay within traditional custody frameworks, held by BitGo. The blockchain layer handles the token representation, not the actual asset custody.

The filing follows the SEC’s closure of a multi-year investigation into Ondo that ended without any charges. That clean bill of health likely gave the company confidence to push for explicit regulatory comfort rather than operating in ambiguity.The company has joined a DTCC consortium and plans to commence production trades within it by July 2026. Ondo’s approach mirrors prior no-action relief the SEC granted to the DTCC itself for tokenized securities. The company is essentially arguing that its model is complementary to what DTCC is already doing, not competitive with it.

US President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform that the two warring parties in Europe, Russia and Ukraine, have agreed to a three-day ceasefire.

Bitcoin’s price reacted to the news positively, but in a more modest manner.

“This Ceasefire will include a suspension of all kinetic activity, and also a prison swap of 1,000 prisoners from each Country. This request was made directly by me, and I very much appreciate its agreement by President Vladimir Putin and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” reads the Truth Social post.

Trump also expressed hopes that the ceasefire now will be the beginning of “the end of a very long, deadly, and hard-fought war.” He added that both parties have opened talks in an attempt to end the conflict, which he described as “the biggest since World War II.”

Bitcoin tends to react well to ceasefire news in the past month or so. The asset had dipped to $79,100 yesterday after it was rejected at $83,000 in the middle of the week, but jumped by over a grand to well above $80,000 as of now.

However, this $1,000 rally isn’t as impressive as its move after the ceasefire between the US and Iran. At the time, the cryptocurrency traded at around $68,000 before it shot up to $73,000 in minutes.

Weeks later, bitcoin registered another notable price pump after the ceasefire was extended, and most altcoins followed suit. Today, very few larger-cap alts have marked substantial gains, such as SOL (5.5%) and ZEC (10%).

Bitcoin is facing resistance after weeks of upside that carried it significantly above the lows that defined the worst of the correction. The recovery had been building momentum — and today that momentum met a specific kind of obstacle that XWIN Research Japan has analyzed in detail, with findings that change how the decline should be read.

Bitcoin briefly fell below $80,000 today. Ethereum dropped under $2,300. More than $90 billion was erased from the combined crypto market cap from recent highs, with approximately $331 million in liquidations over the past 24 hours — nearly $100 million of that occurring within a single two-hour window. The speed and scale of the move created the kind of alarm that typically accompanies a macro shock.

But the macro environment did not produce this decline. The S&P 500 and NASDAQ remained near record highs throughout the same period. Traditional equities did not sell off. Risk appetite in broader markets did not deteriorate. The forces that drove Bitcoin below $80,000 were not external.

According to XWIN Research Japan, the decline was driven primarily by internal crypto market structure — specifically the combination of leverage positioning that had accumulated during the recovery and profit realization from holders who had returned to profitability after weeks of recovery. The market did not break because of what was happening outside it. It broke because of what had been building inside it.

The Rally Created the Conditions for Its Own Interruption

The XWIN Research Japan report identifies the specific mechanism behind the decline with precision. The 37% recovery from April lows had returned a significant cohort of investors to profitability, and many of them chose to act on that recovery
