WLFI burns 100 mln tokens as controversial vesting schedule begins: What about price?The Trump family-backed DeFi project, World Liberty Financial [WLFI], has reportedly burned 100 million tokens.  

According to on-chain data, four wallets linked to the project’s team transferred 1 billion tokens to a vesting contract as the unlock schedule went live.

On Monday, the 11th of May, these wallets sent out 100 million tokens in six batches, worth about $6.68 million. This was part of the 10% of supply set to be burned from founders and team allocation, according to a recent governance guideline. 


Token unlock schedule begins

Initially, the team, founders, and early investors in the project didn’t have a clear vesting schedule for their investment. After a long-running blame game and scrutiny from the community, the project finally released a controversial vesting schedule for a vote last month. 

At the TGE (token generation event) in September 2025, the team and early investors were only allowed to sell 20% of their entire WLFI stake.

The rest of the 80% remained uncertain until the unlock schedule vote was released in April. 

Per the unlock schedule, early investors or presale buyers (with over 17 billion WLFI) will face a 2-year cliff followed by a 2-year linear release. In other words, they will only be able to fully divest by 2030. However, their stash won’t be subject to token burns.

Business Intelligence firm Strategy has acquired an additional $43 million in Bitcoin despite recording a shocking $12.54 billion loss in the first quarter of 2026 following Bitcoin's major downturn.

The Michael Saylor-led company has shrugged off losses stemming from Bitcoin dropping below $62,000 in February, leading to its shares falling 72% from $457 to $130 at the time of the report.

Strategy, despite criticisms and skeptics, continues to lead institutional accumulation of the flagship crypto asset, Bitcoin, and currently holds 818,334 BTC at a market value of $64.14 billion.

A federal grand jury in San Francisco has indicted three Tennessee men on charges that include conspiracy to commit robbery and kidnapping after prosecutors say the group carried out a series of wrench attacks — crimes where victims are physically threatened or harmed to force them to hand over crypto — stealing at least $6.5 million from victims across California.

A Violent Scheme With A Simple Disguise
Elijah Armstrong, Nino Chindavanh, and Jayden Rucker allegedly posed as delivery drivers to get inside their targets’ homes. Once in, they used threats of violence to force victims to hand over their crypto seed phrases — the recovery keys that grant full access to a digital wallet.

According to the Justice Department, the attacks took place between November 22 and December 31 last year across the Los Angeles area and the San Francisco Bay Area. Prosecutors identified at least four people targeted during that period.

One victim was forced to transfer $6.5 million in cryptocurrency to a wallet controlled by the group. That figure represents the bulk of what prosecutors say was stolen during the entire campaign.

Craig Missakian, the US Attorney for the Northern District of California, did not mince words. “These individuals, as alleged, terrorized their victims in the hopes of stealing vast sums of cryptocurrency,” he said in a statement Monday. “The scheme was not only sophisticated, it was brazen, violent, and dangerous.”
