After a three-day streak above $70K, Bitcoin (BTC) has slipped to $68,131, down 3.96% in 24 hours.
Blockchain analytics firm CryptoQuant highlights a spike in selling pressure among short-term holders (STHs) — those who have held BTC for less than 155 days. In the past 24 hours alone, panic-led STHs sold over 27,000 BTC for profit, marking the highest levels seen in recent months and signaling a potential capitulation phase.
⚡ Technical Warning: Death Cross
On March 3, Bitcoin formed a new death cross, where the 50-day simple moving average crossed below the 200-day average, signaling short-term bearish momentum. Historically, death crosses have been followed by capitulation and bottoming phases:
2014: BTC fell ~52%
2018: BTC fell ~50%
2022: BTC fell ~46%
🐋 Whale Activity
CryptoQuant also reports a Bitcoin Exchange Whale Ratio (EWR) of 0.54, suggesting that whales are increasingly moving BTC to exchanges, adding to selling pressure.
