However, a new report is out that Russia is looking to get back to the US dollar system and is working on a trade deal to seek Trump’s approval. If the deal goes through, it would be a complete U-turn of what Russia wanted with BRICS, which is to trade in local currencies. This pushes the narrative that Russia pushed de-dollarization not because of ideology but due to sanctions.

Bitcoin Rebounds to $69K, Triggers $400M Short Liquidation Wave

Ethereum rose approximately 12% on the day to a recent price of $2,075, while Solana jumped nearly 14% to just below $89. Bitcoinclimbed back toward $69,000 on Wednesday for the first time in more than a week, trading as high as $69,869 after dipping below $63,000 on Tuesday. The rebound represents a gain of more than 7% on the day, though  Bitcoin remains down over 21% across the past 30 days.

The price recovery triggered a wave of liquidations across the derivatives market. More than $400 million in short positions were wiped out in the 24-hour period, accounting for the vast majority of the $463 million in total liquidations recorded during that span, per CoinGlass data.

Bitcoin led liquidations with approximately $200 million in shorts forced out, followed by Ethereum at $153 million. Solana ranked third with roughly $22 million in short liquidations. Ethereum rose approximately 12% on the day to a recent price of $2,075, while Solana jumped nearly 14% to just below $89.

Among the broader top 10 coins by market cap, Ethereum and Solana posted the largest percentage gains. Other double-digit movers over the 24-hour period included Polkadot (DOT), Filecoin (FIL), Uniswap (UNI), Aptos (APT), Avalanche (AVAX), and Chainlink (LINK), with the overall crypto market gaining approximately 6.6% in 24 hours.

Crypto-linked equities also surged on Wednesday as risk appetite improved. USDC stablecoin issuer Circle spiked 29% to $79 per share following an earnings report. Blockchain lender Figure gained 15% to $34 per share, while Ethereum treasury firm BitMine Immersion Technologies rose nearly 14% to $22.

Coinbase advanced 13% to $183 per share, and  Bitcoin treasury company Strategy rose nearly 9% to above $135 per share. Bitcoin miner MARA Holdings gained 7% to $8.66.
