Across Protocol (ACX) recently disclosed a $4.5 million exploit, but confirmed that user funds were never at risk.
According to the team, the incident was caused by a vulnerability in the relay software responsible for reading off-chain events on the Solana network. By forging deposit events, the attacker tricked the relayer into releasing its own funds. Importantly, Across's smart contracts and Solana programs were not compromised.
The team responded quickly by:
Identifying the exploit within hours.
Deploying a patch in approximately 5 hours.
Confirming that user assets remain safe.
Stating that the planned ACX buyback will continue as scheduled.
The incident serves as a reminder that DeFi security extends beyond smart contracts. Off-chain infrastructure, relayers, and data verification systems are becoming just as critical as on-chain code.
In my view, strong security requires protecting every layer of the protocol—not just the blockchain itself. As cross-chain ecosystems become more complex, infrastructure security will play an even bigger role in maintaining user trust.

We’re Gonna Need Another Color’: Michael Saylor Fuels Speculation Over Strategy’s Next Bitcoin MoveMichael Saylor’s latest bitcoin chart comes as Strategy holds 843,775 BTC, maintains a $3.225 billion cash reserve, and still has authorization to sell up to $23.53 billion of additional stock to raise capital, sharpening questions over whether the company will resume bitcoin purchases.Strategy Inc. (Nasdaq: MSTR) Executive Chairman Michael Saylor renewed speculation on Sunday, July 26, by sharing the company’s bitcoin acquisition chart alongside the remark, “We’re gonna need another color.” The X post included a graphic filled with orange markers representing Strategy’s purchases since 2020.

The chart showed Strategy holding 843,775 BTC acquired through 113 purchases. The holdings were valued at approximately $54.36 billion, with an average acquisition price of $75,653 per bitcoin. The chart estimated an unrealized decline of about $9.47 billionSaylor frequently posts versions of the chart before Strategy releases treasury updates, prompting investors to treat them as possible signals of another purchase. The posts do not confirm an acquisition, and the latest came after Strategy disclosed selling $263.5 million of stock without adding BTC.During the July 13-19 reporting period, Strategy sold 2,732,318 MSTR shares for $263.5 million in net proceeds but did not purchase bitcoin. The proceeds increased Strategy’s U.S. dollar reserve to $3.225 billion, illustrating that the company does not automatically deploy newly raised capital into BTC and may instead strengthen its cash position.

The company still has authorization to sell up to $23.53 billion of additional common stock under its existing at-the-market offerings, according to a July 20 regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission

1. Hashi testnet went live on the 22nd

Hashi lets users borrow against their BTC without moving it off the Bitcoin network.

Collateral is secured by a 2-of-2 multisig, one signature from Hashi's validators and one from a guardian.

25+ partners are building on it ahead of mainnet, and Wave Digital committed to three years of bringing Bitcoin-yield bond products onchain through Hashi.

2. Native SUI staking is live on Coinbase

Rewards accrue directly in the Coinbase account, with no need to choose a validator or manage a separate position.

Sui staking has also been live on Revolut since earlier this year.

This is great for those that cannot deal with the additional hassle from other apps.

3. Sui added confidential transfers (public beta)

Amounts and balances are hidden from public observers, while senders, receivers, and asset issuers keep full visibility.

Exchanges and regulators get risk-tiered access.

No company is moving payroll onchain if competitors can read every payment, so this is a practical solution to that problem.

4. @utila_io added gasless stablecoin transfers

Utila's enterprise users can now send stablecoins on Sui with zero SUI in the wallet.

This is possible due to Sui's gasless stablecoin transfers (added earlier this year).

5. A new record of 6M TPS through Sui Tunnels

In their test run, Sui processed around 2.3B txns in ~20 minutes.

Tunnels handle execution offchain and settle back to Sui, which is how the number gets that high.

It's the largest throughput test the ecosystem has run so far.
