Aave launches V4 on Ethereum with shared liquidity model for onchain lending



Aave Labs has launched Aave V4 on Ethereum mainnet, introducing a new architecture designed to make onchain lending more scalable and flexible. The release marks the protocol’s biggest structural change since V1 and comes after more than two years of development.

The core change is V4’s hub and spoke model. Under the new setup, a central liquidity hub holds assets while connected spoke markets can define their own collateral types, risk settings, and liquidation rules. That allows multiple lending environments to share one pool of capital instead of each market needing to bootstrap deposits on its own.

Aave says that design should let very different use cases sit on top of the same liquidity base, from more conservative institutional style markets to ETH correlated borrowing setups and strategy-focused environments. At launch, V4 goes live on Ethereum with three liquidity hubs, including Core, Prime, and Plus, alongside e-Mode spokes for closely correlated collateral and borrowed assets.

The protocol is also rolling out Aave Pro, a new interface built for V4 that gives users a single view across hubs and spokes, including rates, health factor, and risk premium data. Aave said the aim is to keep the user experience familiar even as the underlying market structure becomes more modular.

The launch comes with deliberately conservative supply and borrow caps. Aave said those limits will be raised gradually by governance as live usage is observed, reflecting a cautious rollout for a system meant to support a wider range of lending markets over time.

The protocol says it has processed more than $1 trillion in cumulative loans and controls over half of the decentralized lending market. Recent market data also points to Aave remaining the dominant player in DeFi lending going into the V4 launch

Ex-Blackstone duo raise $25M to bring private credit onto blockchain

Two former Blackstone professionals Connor Dougherty and Lily Yarborough have closed a $25 million round to digitize private credit, betting blockchain can unlock faster and more transparent lending.

The seed round was led by Castle Island Ventures, with participation from Susquehanna’s crypto arm, Maven11, and TeraWulf founders, Fortune reported Monday. The company declined to disclose its valuation.

Dougherty and Yarborough are building their startup, Valinor, a gateway between traditional finance and crypto.

The duo, who began their careers as analysts at banks before joining Blackstone’s private credit arm, believe private credit is the next major category to move onchain, and one where blockchain technology can deliver immediate efficiency gains.

Valinor started by lending to crypto-native companies but soon realized blockchain could transform the entire lending process. Instead of relying on spreadsheets and manual oversight, smart contracts automate approvals, payments, and compliance.

Dougherty said Valinor wants to move beyond crypto-collateralized lending into “real economy credit.” The company has already issued loans to select clients and will expand lending and staffing with its latest funding.

From stock exchanges to banks, Wall Street is accelerating its move toward tokenization across core financial products.

The New York Stock Exchange, in partnership with BlackRock-backed Securitize, is developing a 24/7 tokenized securities platform, aiming to enable continuous trading and onchain settlement, as well as cut operational risks.

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink has advocated for tokenization as a way to transform financial markets, improve infrastructure, and broaden access to investing.

According to Fink, blockchain and digital wallets could simplify holding, trading, and issuing assets, making investment opportunities more widely available.

Pundits on the crypto prediction platform Polymarket are similarly pessimistic, giving just a 15% chance that Bitcoin will reclaim $120,000 in 2026.

Most crypto users intend to comply with tax requirements. Still, confusion around reporting rules and transaction tracking continues to create friction, according to a new industry report.

A joint study by Coinbase and CoinTracker found that 74% of users are aware that crypto is taxable, and 65% have reported crypto activity in the past. 

However, understanding remains uneven: only 49% correctly identify when a taxable event occurs, and nearly two-thirds are unaware of upcoming rule changes.

Bitcoin ETFs See Red Again, While Potential New Member Awaits
According to data from SoSoValue, the combined trading activity across the 12 Bitcoin Spot ETFs resulted in a negative inflow of $296.18 million over the past week. This development represents the seventh weekly outflow of 2026, and the fifteenth since the crypto bear market commenced in October 2025. A daily analysis shows the net withdrawal performance is highly linked to consecutive outflows on Thursday and Friday, combinedly valued at over $396 million. For context, the $225.48 million outflow registered on Friday represents the market’s largest net outflow since March 3rd.

Looking at individual fund performance, BlackRock IBIT experienced the largest net redemptions valued at $158.07 million. Meanwhile, Grayscale’s GBTC, Bitwise’s BITB, and Ark/21 Shares ARKB also registered a total netflow of $169.26 million. ETFs such as Grayscale’s BTC and VanEck’s HODL also posted respective net withdrawals of $5.45 and $10.28, marking minor contributions to the general market’s negative performance. On the other hand, Fidelity’s FBTC accounted for the only recorded net inflow, valued at $46.88 million.

Other ETFs, such as Invesco’s BTCO, Valkyrie’s BRRR, Wisdom Tree’s BTCW, Franklin Templeton’s EZBC, and Hashdex’s DEFI, all experienced zero weekly net flows. At press time, the Bitcoin Spot ETF reported a cumulative total net inflow of $55.93 billion and total net assets of $84.77 billion.

Speaking at a Q&A-style event held at Harvard University on the 30th, Powell said, “While there are signs the labor market is cooling, inflation still appears to be sticky.” He added, however, that long-term inflation expectations are “well anchored.”

He pointed in particular to the impact of tariffs on inflation. “Tariffs have led to a modest bout of inflation,” he said, explaining that “in 2024, the trajectory was close to a soft landing, but inflationary pressure resurfaced afterward due to tariff policy.”

On monetary policy, he said the Fed can maintain its current stance. “Policy is in a good position to wait and see,” he said, adding, “We will bring inflation back to the 2% target.”

On balance-sheet policy, Powell cited past crisis responses. “There were instances during the 2008 financial crisis and the pandemic when, even after cutting rates, it was difficult to provide sufficient support,” he said, stressing the importance of preserving policy space.

Regarding financial markets, he referred to the private credit market.
