Popular S2F Model Suggests BTC Is 'Massively Undervalued' Pseudonymous quantitative analyst who goes by PlanB, the creator of the controversial Bitcoin (BTC) Stock-to-Flow (S2F) model, has shared a refreshed outlook for the foremost cryptocurrency. Based on his latest projection, the average BTC price during the 2024-2028 market cycle could rise to around $500,000.

The projection has reignited discussion among investors about whether Bitcoin is currently presenting a major buying opportunity or whether the once-popular S2F model has lost its predictive power.

PlanB's new S2F model measures Bitcoin's scarcity by comparing the current total supply, or stock, with the yearly amount of newly mined coins, known as the flow. Notably, the model focuses on Bitcoin's halvings-events that cut the issuance of new BTC in half every four years. Following each halving, the supply of new BTC is cut in half, which, according to PlanB, naturally exerts upward pressure on Bitcoin's price.

MicroStrategy stock is up nearly 3% at press time, trading above $137 as markets opened on March 9. Strategy just announced another 17,994 $BTC purchase for $1.28 billion.

The stock trades 57% lower over the past six months, yet it’s quietly outperforming both Bitcoin and even Microsoft year to date. The reason is that the company’s amplified volatility is working in shareholders’ favor.

Bitcoin Dropped 22% This Year, But MSTR Held Up Better

Strategy has historically carried a 1.5 to 1.8x beta to Bitcoin, meaning it tends to amplify $BTC moves in both directions. But 2026 is telling a different story.

Year to date, Bitcoin is down 22.07% while MicroStrategy stock is down just 9.50%. That’s a downside ratio closer to 0.4x, not 1.8x.

On the upside, however, the amplification is alive. Between February 5 to March 6, MSTR’s price rose roughly 44% within its range, while Bitcoin rose about 15%. That’s closer to a 3x multiplier going up.

That means MSTR has absorbed less than half of Bitcoin’s downside while sitting on a treasury of 738,731 $BTC worth approximately $51.1 billion at current prices.

Bitcoin-based funds led $619 million in weekly inflows into digital asset investment products, extending the rebound to a second straight week, according to CoinShares.

The firm’s Head of Research, James Butterfill, noted that the United States drove nearly all positive sentiment, while funds in Europe, Asia, and Canada recorded modest outflows amid geopolitical tension in the Middle East.
Global crypto investment products issued by asset managers such as BlackRock, Grayscale, and Bitwise recorded $619 million in net inflows last week, extending a rebound in investor demand even as geopolitical tensions and energy markets injected fresh volatility into global financial markets, according to CoinShares.

The inflows mark the second consecutive week of positive flows after investors poured roughly $1 billion into funds the week prior, breaking a five-week outflow streak that had weighed on the market earlier in the year, The Block previously reported.

CoinShares’ latest weekly report suggests demand remained resilient despite shifting macro conditions tied to the Iran conflict and rising oil prices.

Investor appetite was strongest early in the week, with $1.44 billion flowing into crypto investment products during the first three days before sentiment cooled.

Net outflows totaling $829 million on Thursday and Friday trimmed the weekly total as oil prices climbed and broader markets reassessed inflation risks, CoinShares’ Head of Research, James Butterfill, wrote on Monday.

Even with the late-week reversal, the data pointed to broadly constructive sentiment toward the asset class during a period of geopolitical stress.
