Analyzing SYRUP’s fall from $0.20: Can Maple’s TVL growth help?
Maple Finance [$SYRUP] joined the assets hit by widespread selling over the past 24 hours.

The token reached $0.20 early Thursday before retreating alongside the broader crypto market. It last traded around this level on the 26th of May.

However, Maple Finance’s on-chain performance remained positive, creating a divergence between protocol activity and $SYRUP’s price.

Why did Maple’s TVL rise?

Capital deposited across Maple Finance continued growing despite the token’s decline.

The protocol’s Total Value Locked [TVL] increased by roughly $173 million within 48 hours, according to DeFiLlama.

However, rising TVL does not necessarily represent an equivalent amount of fresh capital. Changes in underlying asset prices can also affect it.

Even so, the increase suggested that Maple retained demand while $SYRUP faced market-wide selling.

DeFiLlama also recorded approximately $153,000 in Holders Revenue during July. This metric tracks value distributed to token holders.

These distributions could support holding demand, although they do not guarantee stronger price performance.

Why are $SYRUP traders pulling back?

$SYRUP’s decline appeared to follow broader market weakness rather than deterioration across the protocol.

CoinGlass data showed that Open Interest fell approximately 7% over the past day.

It declined from $24.15 million to $22.44 million, removing $1.71 million from outstanding derivatives positions.

Falling Open Interest suggested that traders reduced exposure as volatility increased. However, it did not reveal whether longs or shorts closed voluntarily.

At press time, Ethereum traded near $1,823 after falling 3.6% over 24 hours. The decline attracted substantial whale activity, although sellers retained control of the market.

Are whales buying the ETH dip?
CryptoQuant’s Spot Average Order Size recorded large whale orders for seven consecutive days.

However, the metric captured both buying and selling activity. Therefore, it confirmed whale participation without establishing a clear direction.

Lookonchain also reported that two newly created wallets withdrew 20,000 ETH from Coinbase Prime. The withdrawal was worth $37.72 million and occurred in two batches of 10,000 ETH.

According to the tracker, the associated whale had accumulated aggressively during the previous three days.

On the 16th of July, the whale purchased 30,000 ETH, worth $57.6 million. Its three-day accumulation reached 89,396 ETH, valued at approximately $164.88 million.

Buying during a decline suggested that the whale expected stronger prices. However, one entity’s activity could not confirm broader confidence.

CoinGlass data showed that Ethereum’s Spot Netflow remained negative for two consecutive days.

At press time, Spot Netflow stood at -$23.6 million, compared with -$49 million the previous day. Therefore, net outflows continued but slowed considerably.

Negative Spot Netflow indicated that more ETH left exchanges than entered them. This trend aligned with the reported whale withdrawals. Even so, Exchange Outflows alone could not establish that every withdrawal represented accumulation.

Institutional bond pricing into one data network
Pyth Network is adding institutional bond-market data to its platform.

Fenics Market Data, OpenYield and Tradeweb will now provide pricing through Pyth Pro and the Pyth Data Marketplace. Together, they cover dealer quotes, U.S. Treasuries, corporate bonds, municipal bonds and benchmark prices used by large financial institutions.

About the same, Mike Cahill, CEO of Douro Labs and Contributor to Pyth Network, said,

Fixed income pricing underpins global financial markets.

He added,

Making it available through the same infrastructure that already distributes equities, futures... is a structural step toward a unified, modern market data standard.

The effect can be immense. Bond pricing is often spread across dealers, private transactions, and separate trading venues. By bringing these sources into one network, Pyth is making fixed-income data easier for developers and financial applications to access alongside other major asset classes.

The Asia push for high-demand market data
That same strategy is also playing out in Asia. A recent South Korean market sell-off reportedly pushed more than 1.2 million leveraged accounts toward margin calls. The recent South Korean market sell-off highlights the value of timely regional market data, an area where Pyth has continued expanding its coverage.

Interestingly, Pyth has already expanded its coverage across Asia, including major Hong Kong stocks and a dedicated Seoul price feed for SK Hynix. Through Pyth Pro and its Data Marketplace, this coverage can be packaged into paid products for trading firms and financial apps.

Broader regional coverage could increase demand for Pyth’s data products and support network revenue over time.

The latest CryptoQuant report assesses that Strategy’s new capital management strategy eased its immediate liquidity strains, though it warns the plan remains incomplete. According to the analytics platform’s evaluation, the organization needs to establish specific guidelines to determine the ideal times to buy and sell the digital asset.

In late June, the company introduced a five-part digital credit capital framework. This scheme establishes a U.S. dollar reserve intended exclusively for the payment of preferred dividends and interest, setting a minimum coverage target of 12 months.

The report details that the dividend on STRC preferred shares was increased to 12% to try to bring the securities closer to their $100 par value. Additionally, the plan authorizes repurchases of up to $1 billion in preferred shares and another $1 billion in MSTR common stock. To complement the structure, a monetization program permits raising up to $1.25 billion through the liquidation of crypto assets.

Despite the reforms, analysts at the research firm point to the existence of unaddressed areas. According to the CryptoQuant report, the corporation has yet to define a systematic model based on market valuations that dictates when to restart asset accumulation, leaving the company exposed to acquiring funds at local price tops.

The latest price move comes as Injective filed its transfer agent registration with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission [SEC]. This is part of the blockchain network’s push to bring on-chain regulated real-world assets [RWAs] and securities infrastructure.

Injective files for SEC transfer-agent registration
Injective announced on July 16 that it had officially filed its transfer agent registration with the SEC.

Transfer agents maintain official ownership records for securities and process changes when those assets change hands. Injective wants to bring this function on-chain, allowing the ownership record to exist on the same blockchain as the tokenized security rather than relying on a separate off-chain database.

According to Injective, moving the transfer-agent function on-chain could allow market participants to record and transfer ownership of tokenized securities within seconds while reducing the need for multiple intermediaries to reconcile transactions.

The filing begins the registration process and should not be interpreted as SEC approval or confirmation that Injective is already operating as a registered transfer agent.

Regulatory push extends beyond the U.S.
The SEC filing forms part of Injective’s broader push to expand its regulated financial infrastructure.

Injective said the announcement came hours after it published its MiCAR whitepaper, which the project says will support its expansion across European Union member states within the region’s regulatory framework.

Together, the developments highlight Injective’s efforts to position its blockchain infrastructure for institutional and regulated markets across the U.S. and Europe.

However, the developments have yet to trigger a decisive breakout for INJ.
