US banks may need regulatory clarity more than the crypto industry, a former Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) chief said, arguing they risk falling behind the rest of the world.

Regulatory Uncertainty Could Leave US Banks Behind
On Sunday, Chris Giancarlo, former chairman of the CFTC, discussed the significant policy reversal under the Trump administration that has been driving crypto innovation in the US, including the highly anticipated market structure bill.

In an interview for Scott Melker’s The Wolf Of All Streets podcast, the ex-CFTC chief affirmed that landmark stablecoin legislation enacted last July, the GENIUS Act, was “the appetizer” for crypto regulation, while the market structure bill, also known as the CLARITY Act, represents the main dish but has become the “hard part.”

For context, the CLARITY Act has been stalled for nearly two months after the Senate Banking Committee published its bill draft in mid-January. Multiple policies, including key restrictions for stablecoin issuers, were criticized by crypto leaders, leading to a prolonged fight between banks and the digital assets industry.

Giancarlo affirmed that banks need regulatory clarity more than the crypto industry, arguing that they will be hesitant to invest in new technology without clear rules, and their systems will be superseded.

The banks, however, can’t afford regulatory uncertainty. Their general counselors are telling their boards, you can’t invest billions of dollars in this (...) unless you’ve got regulatory certainty. (...) The banks need this clarity because they need to build this. They need to be in the forefront, not in the rear guard of this innovation.

On the contrary, the crypto industry will continue to build and innovate in other jurisdictions. “They are risk-takers. They’re going to build it here, or they’re going to build it abroad,” the former CFTC chairman asserted.

While the global crypto market seems to take breath as BTC climbs back to $70K zone, the token linked to Pump.fun recorded a modest rise in the latest trading session, with the price currently trading around $0.002076.

Over the past 24 hours, the token has gained about 6.29%, moving within a relatively narrow intraday range. During this period, the crypto asset recorded a low of $0.001936 and a high of $0.002086, showing moderate volatility as buyers attempted to push the price above the $0.00208 level.

The token’s current rally comes while the platform continues to attract attention due to ongoing legal developments. Pump.fun and several of its officers have filed a motion in a New York federal court seeking dismissal of a class-action complaint filed by memecoin buyers.

The lawsuit, filed earlier in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleges that tokens created through the platform may qualify as unregistered securities under U.S. law. The company argues that the claims are insufficient and has requested the court to dismiss the case at an early stage.

PUMP Trades in Short-Term Sideways Range
From a technical perspective, the daily chart shows PUMP trading in a short-term consolidation phase after a decline earlier in February. The price is currently positioned slightly above the 9-day and 21-day moving averages, both located near $0.00196, indicating limited short-term upward momentum. A sustained hold above these averages suggests that buyers are attempting to stabilize the price after recent weakness.

Meanwhile, the momentum indicators remain neutral. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is around 52, which indicates balanced market conditions without strong overbought or oversold pressure.

Bitcoin Supply Reaches 20 Million Milestone After 6,267 Days
In a new post on X, on-chain analytics firm Glassnode has discussed the latest milestone achieved by the Bitcoin network: more than 20 million tokens have now entered circulation. The cryptocurrency’s supply grows whenever miners add a new block to the chain and receive the corresponding block reward. This inflation of the asset isn’t fixed, decreasing with time as events known as Halvings take place. Initially, Bitcoin started out with a block subsidy of 50 BTC, but four Halving events have occurred since then, bringing the metric down to just 3.125 BTC.

Halvings occur about every four years, with the next such event being estimated to occur sometime in 2028. Thus, as time passes, the block reward will only shrink further, reducing the growth rate of the asset’s supply. There is a limit to how small the block reward will become, however, as the cryptocurrency’s supply itself has a hard cap: 21 million tokens. After this figure is reached, no more block subsidy will be handed out, so no more Halving events will occur, either.

With the Bitcoin supply now hitting the 20 million mark, more than 95% of all BTC that will ever be has hit circulation. This milestone was cleared on Monday as block 940,000 was mined. It took the network 6,267 days or roughly 17 years to reach this point. Glassnode has shared a chart that compares the supply record against some of the other 20 million milestones achieved by Bitcoin in its history.

Crypto would keep tracking other risk assets in the near term, with oil — not any crypto-specific narrative — still calling the shots on macro sentiment.

Market observers said that while the conflict was unlikely to be resolved soon, tradable bounces were possible, and Bitcoin could outperform as a potential store of value during periods of prolonged uncertainty.

Will A Ceasefire Lift Crypto Price?
Others offered a similar read. A genuine ceasefire, they said, could spark a strong rally in digital assets — driven by falling energy prices, reduced inflation pressure, and renewed appetite for risk.

But caution prevailed. Doubts persisted amid mixed signals, with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard publicly dismissing Trump’s remarks as “nonsense” and insisting Tehran, not Washington, would decide when fighting stops.

Ripple targets April for Australian financial license via acquisitio

Crypto company Ripple said it is set to secure a key financial services license in Australia through the acquisition of an Australian payments firm, adding to an international license grab over the last year.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ripple said it will buy BC Payments Australia, a corporate entity tied to the European Banking Circle Group, allowing it access to the company’s Australian Financial Services License (AFSL), which is set to become a requirement for certain crypto companies to provide financial services in the country.

The acquisition of BC Payments Australia is set to close on April 1, according to a report from The Australian, citing comments from Ripple APAC managing director Fiona Murray.

Murray said there was “enough institutional interest in digital assets to warrant the investment for us.”

“Getting licensed was always part of our plan.”

In Ripple’s statement, Murray said “Australia is a key market for Ripple” and that an AFSL would strengthen the company’s ability to scale its payments business throughout the country.

“With the AFSL in place, Ripple Payments can manage the full lifecycle of a transaction, from onboarding and compliance through funding, FX, liquidity management, and final payout, while integrating both traditional banking rails and digital assets.”
