Bitcoin-Focused Finance Company Announces It Sold Bitcoin to Pay Off Debts! Here Are the Details.Fold, a Bitcoin-focused financial services company traded on Nasdaq, sold a significant amount of Bitcoin in the first half of 2026 to reduce debt and finance its operations. According to reports, the company sold a total of 832 $BTC in the first six months of the year.

Following the sales, the amount of Bitcoin on Fold’s balance sheet decreased significantly. The company’s current Bitcoin reserve fell to 194 $BTC, indicating a notable reduction in Fold’s crypto asset position.

The financial results also revealed increased pressure on the company. Fold reported an operating loss of $15.6 million in the first half of the year. During the same period, the company’s total net loss reached $38.8 million. These figures raised further questions about the company’s operational and financial performance.

Slovenia has appeared for the first time in the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) register of electronic money token (EMT) issuers.

Dinaro, a Slovenia-based electronic money institution supervised by the Bank of Slovenia, joined the EMT list in the latest European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) register update on Wednesday.

According to its website, Dinaro provides payment services, including card issuing and acquiring, and says it holds Mastercard principal membership. Its addition marks the first appearance of a Slovenia-based issuer in ESMA’s EMT dataset.

The update also changed the EU register of authorized crypto-asset service providers (CASPs), which now lists 325 companies. It added Czech lender Partners Banka and Germany’s Volksbank Beilstein-Ilsfeld-Abstatt.

The register no longer lists Czech company Altlift, which first appeared on the MiCA CASP register in early July with authorization to execute and transmit client orders and provide crypto-asset advice. Its authorization notification was dated June 30.

Dinaro’s addition brought the EMT register to 43 entries. The asset-referenced token (ART) register remained empty, while the non-compliant entity list was unchanged at 167.

Bitcoin slips near $63,500 as traders look past CPI to Fed’s next tests
Bitcoin fell to near $63,500 on Thursday, down over half a percent on the day and almost 2% on the week, as an in-line U.S. inflation report proved enough to calm nerves but not enough to move the market.

Hyperliquid's HYPE was the standout, up over 3% to $56 though flat on the week. Tron added marginally to just under 34 cents and is up 2% over seven days. Everything else fell. Dogecoin dropped almost 3% to 7 cents, XRP over 1% to $1 and is down almost 5% on the week, BNB over 1% to $610, solana under 1% to $76 and ether marginally to $1,880.

July's numbers landed almost exactly where economists expected. Headline inflation rose 0.1% on the month and 3.4% on the year, with the core measure that strips out food and energy up 0.2% and easing to 2.5%.

That was enough to trim the odds of a Federal Reserve rate rise in September, which futures markets cut to about 38% from 46% before the release. Gold rose 1.3% in the immediate aftermath, ether just over 1%, bitcoin around half a percent and S&P 500 futures 0.2%.

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) plans to use blockchain technology to offer faster settlement of Japanese government bond (JGB) transactions, in a move reminiscent of similar initiatives by banks in other countries.

MUFG is preparing a proof-of-concept for onchain JGB transactions using the Canton network to expedite the settlement, which typically takes 1-3 days by traditional means.

The Tokyo-based bank expects to improve the operational and capital efficiency of repo transactions — the purchase of securities as a form of short-term borrowing and lending — through real-time 24/7 onchain settlement.

MUFG noted that financial institutions in Europe and the U.S. have expanded proof-of-concept projects to achieve this exact goal. Blockchain-based intraday U.S. Treasury-bond repos have existed for several years through JPMorgan’s Kinexys network, which went live in 2020.

“Given their high credit worthiness and liquidity, JGBs are widely used as collateral for repo transactions by market participants in Japan and overseas, and momentum for bringing them onchain is growing,” MUFG said on Wednesday.

The project forms part of a broader array of MUFG initiatives exploring the use of blockchain technology in traditional financial functions. Most recently, the bank teamed up with two of the largest Japanese banks, Sumitomo ⁠Mitsui Financial Group (SMBC) and Mizuho Financial Group, to explore listing a jointly issued stablecoin by March 2027.
