The latest rebound of Bitcoin has shown a powerful base of long-term holders as ETF inflows and corporate treasury purchasing reshape the asset’s ownership structure, Bernstein mentioned in a research note on March 16.

Bernstein mentioned Bitcoin surpassed gold and prominent equity indexes in the last week regardless of increased conflict in the Middle East, with Bitcoin going up about 7% and Ether up around 9% in that duration.

The partial reason for the shift was assigned by the analysts to prolonged US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) inflows and the gradual accumulation of corporate purchasers like Strategy, which they say are slowly strengthening Bitcoin’s long-term holder base, bestowing a more stable market structure.

Bernstein further mentioned that possibly it takes a physical conflict to realise Bitcoin is still the most portable, digital and liquid asset with no counterparty risks. The wider point of Bernstein is only that ownership is evolving and changing.

As around 60% of Bitcoin supply has not been active for over a year, the market is growingly dominated by longer-term holders instead of fast-money flows. As a lot of Bitcoin shifts into ETFs, corporate treasuries and wallets that seldom transact, short-term sell pressure may matter less, probably offering the market a more stable base at the time of stress.

Altcoin Season Starting? XRP, DOGE, ADA Jump, While Memecoins Rally
Altcoin market cap crossed $1.01 trillion as investors began rotating capital from Bitcoin into alternative cryptocurrencies.

XRP, Doge, ADA, Polkadot and Pepe gained between 4% and 20% in the past 24 hours.

Analyst Michaël van de Poppe predicts altcoins could rally 20% to 40% if Bitcoin dominance drops below 55%.

The crypto market started Monday on a bullish note, with altcoins showing early signs of a rally. The total altcoin market cap climbed to $1.01 trillion after weeks of sideways movement. Top altcoins like XRP, DOGE, ADA, and DOT rose 4–8%, while PEPE surged 20%.
Meanwhile, Crypto analyst Michael van de Poppe believes altcoins will rally 20 to 40%, once capital begins to rotate.

The Altcoin Season Index, which tracks how many of the top 100 cryptocurrencies outperform Bitcoin, has climbed to 49, its highest level since January 9.

Despite this rise, Bitcoin still dominates the market. It recently traded around $73,663, supported by strong institutional inflows. At the same time, Bitcoin dominance stands near 59.76%, showing it still controls most of the crypto market.

However, crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe believes a real altcoin rally may only begin if Bitcoin dominance drops below 55%, allowing smaller tokens to gain more market share.

Several large-cap altcoins saw clear gains in the last 24 hours, showing that traders began rotating profits into alternative cryptocurrencies after Bitcoin’s recent rally.

Ethereum rose about 7.5%, higher than Bitcoin’s 3.1% gain. Other major coins like XRP, Solana, Cardano, and Polkadot also climbed 4% to 9% during the same time.

Memecoins performed even stronger. Pepe jumped nearly 20%, while Bonk, Shiba Inu, and Pudgy Penguins (PENGU) all posted double-digit gains.

WLFI introduced the proposal last month, outlining a governance staking system that would require holders of unlocked WLFI tokens to stake their assets before they can participate in votes that determine the direction of the protocol and its broader ecosystem. According to the firm, the change would ensure that only participants with “long-term alignment to the protocol” are able to influence governance decisions. The proposal “rewards WLFI holders who have demonstrated the most commitment to WLFI governance and the WLFI ecosystem with additional opportunity to engage in the future of the WLFI ecosystem and potential commercial arrangements,” the document states. By clearing $71,125, the asset has flipped a previously formidable resistance level into potential support.

The bullish price action is conspicuous given the backdrop of market fears around the US-Iran conflict, although Bitcoin has largely shrugged off war fears, causing many to wonder if its extended downturn from October 2025 was the market pricing in the possibility of war.

Traders are now mapping the next zones of interest as volatility returns to the market. The technical picture suggests a battle between bulls aiming for new highs and bears looking to fade the rally.

In the bull case, Bitcoin must sustain its position above $73,000 to confirm the breakout. The immediate target is $75,000, a psychological and technical level laden with liquidity. A daily close above $75,000 could open the path toward $80,000, invalidating the bearish structure formed over the last two months.
