Crypto trading firm Blockfills has filed for bankruptcy

Blockfills, a Chicago-based crypto trading firm, has filed for bankruptcy, as the crypto winter takes its toll on the industry.

On Sunday, BlockFills operator Reliz Ltd. and three affiliated entities filed voluntary Chapter 11 restructuring petitions in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, according to documents seen by CoinDesk.

The court filing shows Reliz reporting assets between $50 million and $100 million against liabilities of $100 million to $500 million, a stark indicator of the mounting pressures in its crypto trading operations.

The company decided to file for bankruptcy after consulting all stakeholders, it said in an official statement.

"After extensive discussions with investors, clients, creditors, and other stakeholders, BlockFills has determined that a voluntary chapter 11 filing is the most responsible path forward in order to preserve the value of the business and maximize recoveries for stakeholders. This filing will allow the firm to implement an orderly restructuring while maintaining transparency and oversight through the court-supervised process," it said.

"To that end, on March 15, 2026, certain BlockFills-related entities filed a voluntary petition to restructure under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware," it added.

CoinDesk reported last month that the crypto lender had lost about $75 million and was seeking a buyer or emergency funding.

BlockFills is a crypto trading and lending firm that provides liquidity, financing and risk-management services to institutional clients. Its platform facilitates crypto lending and borrowing, derivatives trading and over-the-counter (OTC) execution for hedge funds, asset managers, market makers and mining companies.

Crypto trading platform BlockFills announced today that it has entered Chapter 11 after the company suspended trading and withdrawals amid market volatility.

The decision follows extensive discussions with investors, clients, creditors, and other stakeholders and is intended to preserve the value of the business while maximizing recoveries, according to the firm.

On March 15, BlockFills’ parent entity, Reliz Technology Group Holdings Inc., and three affiliates filed voluntary Chapter 11 petitions in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, seeking joint administration for procedural purposes.

The company estimates its assets between $50 million and $1 billion, with liabilities ranging from $100 million to $500 million, and expects between 1,000 and 5,000 creditors.

Court filings reveal that the 30 largest unsecured claims total more than $119 million, with the majority classified as unliquidated customer claims.

The company’s largest creditor, 007 Capital LLC of Puerto Rico, holds an unliquidated customer claim of approximately $17 million. Other major customer claims include the Richard E Ward Revocable Trust at $9.4 million and Artha Investment Partners LLC at $6.9 million.

The creditor roster spans both institutional and retail participants in the global crypto market.

K&H Crypto LLC emerges as the largest disclosed shareholder, holding approximately 17% of equity. Two unnamed shareholders each hold 25% stakes, maintaining their identities confidential in court filings.

Institutional investors include Susquehanna Private Equity Investments LLLP at 5%, P3K LLC at 9%, and CME Ventures, the venture arm of derivatives exchange operator CME Group, at 2%.

Bitcoin LTH-SOPR Falls To 1.01 — What This Means
In a recent QuickTake post on CryptoQuant, on-chain analyst GugaOnChain reveals that a battle between different cohorts of Bitcoin investors is currently unfolding.

GugaOnChain cites the Long-Term Holder SOPR (Spent Output Profit Ratio) metric, which tracks whether long-term investors (who have held Bitcoin for at least 155 days) are selling their tokens profitably, or at a loss. Readings above 1 suggest that these investors are accumulating profits, while readings under 1 reveal otherwise.

According to GugaOnChain, the LTH-SOPR currently stands at 1.01, reflecting that Bitcoin’s long-term investors are exiting the markets at break-even, or with minimal profits. The analyst further explains that this means the “veterans are once again aggressively defending their acquisition cost at $70,675.”

At the same time, the Puell Multiple reflects a reading of 0.60, which GugaOnChain describes as a typical sign that the market is undervalued and that Bitcoin’s miners are starting to experience exhaustion. Usually, when the Puell Multiple falls to 0.5, it marks capitulation among miners.

It is worth noting that if the Puell Multiple should continue on its approach towards the 0.5 mark, the Bitcoin price could follow on such a bearish move, until its Realized Price at $54,000 is retested.
